Thanks, I'm glad you like them! I redid Archer today, who's probably my favorite character design so far. Full line art, color, shade, lighting, 1080p on my page.
I redid the scribbliest concept of the bunch, and it definitely got cleaned up. I've redone all the characters in 1080 on my page except Arlo. I'm very unhappy with his design and will be redoing him in the near future. There's a new character on the way this week though. :D
Working on my next character, Titus Van Buren. He's came from a noble family, and was a highly decorated soldier in the military while taking the rank as Captain. However, shortly after Ivan Gecame general, he not only removed Titus from his position, but discharged him from the military completely, destroying what Titus had worked for his entire life. The reasons for this aren't fully disclosed, but let's say Ivan and Titus REALLY don't like each other.
With his life and reputation ruined by Ivan, Titus eventually skipped town and became a drifter. While everyone has always known his name, not many actually know much about him. His motivation and drive are a bit mysterious, like he's waiting for something. He's a hard one to track down, and even harder to befriend him.

I like him so far. You should try him with a bit of armor, maybe a pauldron, or some greeves.

First pose down of my main character, who's been through quite a few redesigns. He's given me the biggest headache by FAR when coming to character design. Hopefully I pulled together something that works. Also...hands are HARD to draw for me. GAWD THEY R HARD! The next pose I have in mind will be my most ambitious and hopefully won't faceplant myself. :P
Lordy this was tough. I've never tried a pose this ambitious. I'll admit I used references to help me on this one, but it was still difficult. I know the left hand is rough, as well as a few other things. However, if I'm missing something serious in perspective on this, any pointers are much appreciated. My eyes lose site of things sometimes. I'll be refining this a lot tomorrow before line work, but need fresh eyes on it to do so. :P
I put some rough black color to show definition.
Did some fine tuning this evening and got it ready for line art and coloring, especially the one on the left. I think I'll be doing another livestream this Saturday at 3PM EST. I basically take it from this stage and finish it. It's usually a good 5-6 hours long, so there's plenty of time. This is my main character of my story that's responsible for the last 4 pages of pictures over the last 3-4 months. This is his 4th to 5th redesign, and the one I think is sticking. I'm happy with it. :P

As much as I enjoy the new character designs I still wonder where they put their weapons when not in use.

Thanks! I imagine it's like any cartoon where they randomly pull anything they want from behind their back LOL (just kidding). I did have a way earlier concept with a sheath on the side of them. However, since this character dual-wields, I'm not sure if it's two sheaths on the waist, or back strap mounts. :P
The pose also shows a bit of a wreckless charge (character early in the story). He's full of flaws such as a bit of arrogance, jokes too much (and drinks). His dad was well known but got killed in the military when Arlo was young (this character) and is trying to grab some of that legacy. My other character Archer is the closest thing to a father Arlo has, but is also his commanding officer. I imagine Arlo being "good" at fighting, but not great, and through the story learns a lot about himself, his abilities, and what matters in life. His fighting style should start turning into almost a ballet...matrix type stuff as he progresses, learning from Titus and another character who I haven't introduced yet (antagonist/protagonist).

Enzo (his younger brother) is a bit of a runt, but a brain
Holly (his mom) has a rocky relationship with Arlo since he joined the military. Enzo is a bit of a momma's boy.

Now that I'm out of concept mode, I'm re-entering my finished pieces (hopefully a lot better this time around). The first piece I started tonight has Arlo and Enzo in it. For context, this picture depicts Arlo on a short leave from the military and is visiting home one night. Enzo has passed out on his brother's chest under a blanket as Arlo reads a book. While Enzo is smart, he doesn't make friends easily, and has always looked up to his bigger brother. Even though they have different personalities and very different lives, this is supposed to show how they're still close as a family.
This will be a fully painted and shaded final piece. I'll need to refine this like crazy. I hope to have it done by the end of the week.
Just about ready for line work and color. I can't wait to do the lighting because it's going to REALLY change the look of this piece. :D
Still trying to figure out what else should go on the end table. :\
Line art is done. The window will have a lot more detail outside when it's done. I'm thinking a snowy night with a tree line far off and moonlight rays, frost on the windows type stuff. Anyway, Saturday will be the big day.
I'll be holding another livestream from 3PM EST to whenever. Lots of coloring, lots of shading, and hopefully decent music. :P

Thought I'd start working on a joke piece. It still has a ways to go, plus a couple issues, but here's the base color. Did it all after work. :P
For anyone interested, I made a speed painting video of one of my pieces. It was 8 hours crammed into 10 minutes. It basically start at the digitizing process (already pencil drawn).

Welp I'm returning to cats and this time it's Enzo and Daphne. It's Friday and I'm totally done and gonna go drink tonight or something, but this will be next week's big project. I'm trying to be expressive as I can, but if there's things I can do to bring this out even more, please tell me (or show me). I imagine something will be blowing up on a work bench scaring the crap out of them.
Here's the progress so far. I drew a tesla coil from the 1890's blowing up in their face, but it's not necessarily the tech of their world. I'm trying to be expressive as I possibly can with their faces and pose. Enzo appears even more scared than Daphne. He's a bit of a pussy cat though. LOL I did a rough grayscale coloring job so you can see more.
Leaving the office and going home to hit Diablo 3 tonight....100% bonus find legendary items all week!
Update for the evening. I got the 16:10 ratio set, along with the environment and perspective. I also touched up the characters and added a few things (aka overloading the circuit). If I'm up to it, I'll keep adding more detail, and maybe some crap on the walls. The door will be foggy glass.
Just about ready for coloring. Here's a light grayscale job of the characters. I added more detail, and yet there's still so much that's not in the line art pic. The window will have a world painted outside, plus the door has smoked glass and will have some hazy stuff behind it (if I can do it), also not to mention the explosion effects, electricity sparks, and flames. I hope to get this mostly done on Saturday, but this could be a 2-day coloring job.
I'm having a livestream on Saturday at 3PM EST for anyone interested. It will be MUCHO GRANDE hours of coloring and shading. :P
