Well I have been into extreme metal for around a year now but I still like both those bands, I'd agree spineshank are good gateway band as they are much heavier and faster than a lot of nu-metal, Also I could only really see new soilwork, i.e. stuff of the last two albums, as a gateway, old Soilwork is often pretty damn heavy stuff.........which reminds me.........

Yeah, especially on their first 2 albums(Steelbath Suicide, The Chainheart Machine). They are NOT recommended for beginners =P

I love the Haunted!!! I really love their style! Not as much as InFlames.... but I really like them. Darkane is also a good band but I found they have some midle quality song, but don't get me worng they got good stuff.
