I don't bother straightening my mangled locks.

personally i agree with the metalheads at my school. people who listen to rap and metal should be shot since they are usually posers.

well rap and metal are both fairly popular in my school so usually the popular kids listen to both. thus the posers would also listen to both. the true metalheads in my school hate both the popular kids and the posers since they are usually complete assholes which is y we pretty much all think that if u listen to rap and metal u should be shot.

I DON'T LIKE RAP MUSIC
What the fuck? Yeah, because I appreciate a bit of rap makes me a poser? I appreciate a bit of jazz and Aphex Twin and classical and anything decent, too, because I have the ability to have a taste that extends beyond one genre, however much I like metal. Not everyone lives in some fucking high school cliquey place where you listen to music to fit in with a crowd. I, for instance, explore a lot of music, and if I like it, I listen, but I couldn't listen to as much jazz as I could metal. Hip-hop I could, and should, listen to more of. Because some of it's good. Far better than Eminem, and I like all of his work up to the Eminem Show (thanks to the internet I got loads of unreleased stuff). So yeah motherfucker, y'all can like whatever you like without being a poser, as if I've ever had any desire to 'pose'.
At 1/24/07 09:53 PM, Taco-obsessed wrote: ...pretty much all think that if u listen to rap and metal u should be shot.
Well, I listen to rap, techno, metal, pop, rock, classical and some other shit.
If it has a good beat, I give up to it. I don`t do it because I`m posing, I just like it.
Also, I don`t see how a person can be discriminated by his musical taste. Let`s start discriminating by skin color then... oh wait.
Basicly, in each stage of my life, I liked different things, and they added up. So now I have a broad taste.

I DON'T LIKE RAP MUSIC
Well...
Rap is mostly a posing genre -- people in the genre (some underground rappers are exceptions) make it not because they're superior (hence why the best rappers are unknown to most people) but because they look the look. Don't believe me? Take two people who grew up in similar neighborhoods and had similar lives. Say one was a big burly black dude, and the other one is a skinny white dude. They make similar raps at a rap battle. Who's gonna win?
I am not excusing his remarks, though.
Rap is definitely a posing genre.
Infact, you'd go as far as to say that it's a big egotistical circle jerk.
And that's why I happen to like it ;)
no no no. Rap TODAY in GENERAL, is a posing genre.
ALL rap, from ALL times, in ALL specifies, are not. There is a lot of good rap, from the past especially, and a lot of meaningful rap, and a lot of talented rap.
it's todays *gangsta* rap that is shit. But you are ignorant to think that's the only think to exist. and like any genre, it goes deeper than just what you hear on radio. Us judging rap from the crap we hear mainstream, is like people who don't listen to metal and judge it through nu metal.

Werd bitch!
And I don't care for rap... in a like or dislike sense. Though I probably like it more than I dislike it.
Its Dance music I can't stand and RnB. The shit you hear on the bus from skanky lasses.
Fond memories of Earfetish's story on the topic....
CAN'T YOU GUYS POST A LITTLE FASTER? IT'S TOO EASY KEEPING UP WITH THE CLUB!
Anyway, the best Bathory album is Nordland. Not because of historical importance, it's just the best.

I gotta agree with that, but I'm not interested in rap at all. Gangsta rap I fucking hate, but anything else in rap I'm not bothered with.

None legitimately. I have all of them on my computer though. Listening to Aphex is such a different experience to listening to metal, but they're stunning - the most beautiful assortment of bleeps and bangs I can imagine.
...
And it's correct what SOAS says - you should just as quickly think all rap is like 50 Cent and is about bitches and bling and minimal musical quality as you should think that all metal is like the Bizkit.

No I didnt say all i just said most which fits the comment that most of todays rap is a posing genre

Limp Bizkit isnt metal. not even close.

Most of it being the stuff you happen to have listened to, which is the most mainstream of MTV rap.
Limp Bizkit isnt metal. not even close.
That's irrelevant to the point, moron. 50 Cent isn't even close to Hip Hop either.
Y'see, I like to think metal fans have enough braincells and knowledge of music to be able to tell that not all rap is gay and you should've responded to my first post anyway which challenged your argument more directly.
ALL RAP FLAMING ENDS HERE. THIS IS THE METAL HELL, NOT THE DIS RAP AND ALL OTHER GENRES OTHER THAN METAL HELL, NOR IS IT THE DEFEND RAP CLUB.
Sorry, guys, but this place is a spamfest enough as it is, and in addition to having to wade through 5 pages of spam with only 1 page of material, I don't want to have to wade through 2 more pages of off topic flaming. Earfetish, we get it. Taco Obsessed, we get it. We all heard your opinions, nobody is going to change their minds, so just DROP IT.

sounds reasonable. Even though Taco-obsessed's response was really fucking dumb.
Anyway, I just started listening to Type O Negative again. Left that awesome stuff for far too long.

Yes, it did sound dumb. But that's beside the point. I'm just getting bad memories of the time when this club was just spam and flames. *shudder*.

I need to start listening to Type O Negative.

haha. My hair isn't straight either (gay joke goes here). It's very wavy. My grandfather bugs me about having long hair sometimes.

Richard David James can be almost disturbing-- which is what I love about him.
I think the only thing I bought was the Come To Daddy music video on iTunes.
