Haha, by the way, I'm going to an audition for a local Emo-core/Metalcore/Pop-Punk band these days. Just for fun, I want to play some Zemial, Kataklysm and Amon Amarth up their butts :D

A friend of mine will probably join in, that's gonna be a lot of fun :D

What do they sound like?

They're Gothic Metal band...similar to Sirenia, Epica and Nightwish to me...female leading vocals and a grunter in the background...very symphonic too.

and they hail from only a few miles (100 or so, I think) away from my town. Never seen them though. They're good if you like the style.

Normally it means a form of greeting. like " Hail, men!"
but a lot would use it to represent a whole thing, like a country " Hail from Canada" like a way of saying greetings from Canada.
But I think people started to use it as a term of where someone originates due to it, but I dont THINK its the proper term to use.
so, "they hail from bla bla" = " they come fro bla bla"

9. hail from, to have as one's place of birth or residence: Nearly everyone here hails from the Midwest.
ok, scratch think, it IS a proper term to explain where you origin from.
There are a lot of different terms for hail :(
I just knew fo shizzle it was a form of greeting. ramblerambleramble

I don't think anyone say they were from the US. Goatchrist was the one who said they hailed nearish him, and he is from Austria.

Austria isn't too close to the Netherlands, but what is it, a 3 hour flight maybe?

and very unlike his other stuff?

With Buckethead I have no idea whats old and whats new, the man releases like 2 new albums a year, and I don't own any yet.
What songs are you talking about? Cause the stuff that I know is newer - with Serj Tankian and stuff is pretty poo in comparrison to the older Giant Robot, Welcome to Bucketheadland and Electric Tears stuff. Population Override has some snazzy songs though and thats almost newish...

Population Override is my favorite Buckethead album. If anything, it's way more jazzier and it sounds like Joe Satriani a bit.

Bucketheadland is my next favorite.

well, he did say roughly 100 miles. Which isn't that close in retrospect, but map wise, yes.

Crime Slunk Scene

and Austria is like a 6 hour drive, so GC was probably referring to a show in Germany. They're big there.

100 miles and that many hours seem relevant.

Then the plane ride must be less than 3 hours. 1.5 maybe?

we are talking VERY rough numbers.
by 100 he could be 169 which could knock an hour two in travel.
Or considering I doubt any of us know precise hour-to-mile traveling, it's safe to say that netherlands and austria are still fairly close, that a random number might have been given out to show that, and that slight miscalculations are to be had.
or maybe Goatchrist was wrong, fuck if I know at this rate.
TECHNICALITIES.
