You like black metal, just the more artsy stuff.

I hate most bm, and I don't listen to it anymore. I despise Darkthrone and their ripoffs.
Btw, I like Ulver for their electronic works, not their black metal.
And Borknagar's not black metal.
And Burzum's one of those more ambient styles.
Wait, Deux-Ex-Machina... before I updated my favorite bands, only 3 of them were black metal... What do you mean, "most of them"?
Here I am, bored with everything.

If that... they're more just plain avante-garde.

I don't think I've ever seen Borknagar being discussed and ever coming to a conclusion to exactly what genre they are precisely.

What do you mean, "most of them"?Well, Mayhem, Bathory, Gorgoroth, Ulver (you even said you like Bergtatt), Burzum, although, ambientish, are still black metal, Borknagar's early stuff had black metal. :/
But yeah I see what you mean, I just thought it was kind of strange that you said, "Black metal's not really my thing."
I like bergtatt, but I don't think of it as amazing, i.e. it doesn't compare to their electronic works. Bathory isn't black metal, they're viking metal. And Borknagar were never black metal, except for their first album. :P
A better phrasing is that I sorta grew out of black metal and don't listen to much of it anymore. In addition to ambient-ish stuff, I've also been pigging out on heavy metal and power metal.
Can I have some industrial/metal?
Or maybe just some really good metal.
And just like that....he was gone...

This rules :) anyone else heard it? Maybe Ghoul, maybe Bruce?
Has Anyone listened to Trivium's new album "The Crusade" already? And What about Sirenia's new album "Nine Desinies and a Downfall"?
Few weeks ago I bought Metal Hammer (yes, even in The Netherlands it can be bought) and their opinion was that Mastodon's album "Bloog Mountain" was 2006's no. 1 album...who shares this opinion and who'd like to smear crap in their faces?
i don't like Mastodon at all so i'd say no...

Eh, I'm no better, my friend sent me a song, I liked, but I'm too broke to buy shit off the interwebs at this point and time.

If you like Blind Guardian, and Kamelot, I'd recommend Helloween, Persauder( tho it has a lot of thrash elements), definitely Savage Circus ( only one album atm tho, but its the ex drummer of Blind Guardians band), Manowar, Gamma Ray, and Stratovarius.

I'd also recommend Heavenly, who are literally quite heavenly. They're everything good about fast-paced power metal, yet aren't a total cheese bomb like Dragonforce.

Whats the vocals like? Because I can't stand Dragonforce's vocals. They are too..iunno, there is epic, and actually cornyness. and he definitely doesn't fall under epic.

These are high pitched, but really accurate yelps. He has great pitch. Generally, the vocals aren't the centerpoint, the guitar/keyboard melodies are (and often in tandem). Plus, the songwriting is thousands times better than Dragonforce.
