I've been trying to get a friend of mine into real metal. I hope it works out. He seems to like just about any of the bands I show him. I've also been trying to get him into classic rock, which I believe will be more difficult. I don't think he dislikes the classic rock bands I've made him listen to (Deep Purple, King Crimson, Rush), but I don't think he likes them that much either. :( He listens to rap and Linkin Park, but I have some hope that he'll grow out of it. I guess I'm an asshole. XD I even wrote down a big list of bands for him to check out. He already likes Pantera, Megadeth, Fear Factory, and Symphony X thanks to me. There's probably others. He might like Helloween and Dream Theater, but I'm not sure. I think the only metal band he likes that I didn't introduce him to is Metallica. Also, he really really really needs to learn to tell the difference between metal bands. He would try to guess what it is we're listening to at the moment and I'll go "what the hell? not even close". And I suspect he still likes some of the crap I had showed him a few years ago, like Slipknot and shit. I'll see if I can do something about that.

Well... I have few friends, the friends I do have find me very abrasive, I have various tics, I'm strikingly un-self-conscious, I can't read faces worth shit, I can't read any body language worth a shit, I find my self dissociated a lot, and I obsess over everything. And, I took 3rd year calculus as a freshman in college.
As a kid, I would have to make sure I got both feet on every step when going up or down stairs, avoid certain numbers, and do many other things. It was obvious to many people. Actually, I still have a wierd thing with numbers, but I refuse to let it affect my actions (like what number track on a CD I'm listening to or how many syllables I include in a sentance). I still have a lot of tics, but some are hard to explain, some I just don't wish to share, and some become so routine that I forget them. I do wierd things with my face sometimes, too, but they're subtle when I'm in public. That's one. There's also humming just under my breath. Anyway, it's really annoying. I'm working on stopping them. I may some day be able to avoid giving into all of my tics, but it's difficult.

I've decided to do a MIDI version of Demilich's "The Echo" for End Of The Road (a half spoken word, half electronica project I'm working on with a friend).
In keeping with the project's weirdness, I've decided to arrange the piece for different instruments, but I can't decide if I should do it as....
A) A Jazz tune (Saxophone, double bass, and trumpet)
B) An orchestral piece (tremolo strings, violin, and pizzicatto strings)
or
C) A Japanese folk song (shamisen, koto, taiko drums)
