Very true, power metal rules and American Thrash is a bit light for my tastes.

If you're saying American Thrash is too light, then you haven't heard Vio-lence. I still don't like Fear Factory. I'm not saying they suck, but I don't like their style of groove-pseudo industrial metal.

Thrash metal bores me, except for some Annihilator albums. I actually bought All for You when I went to Canada last August. I love a band like Lykathea Aflame, who are technical and experimental, but the Arctopus misses stuff.
Technical: very
Catchy riffs in a song: some, beautiful interludes and outros, I usually skip to those
Variaty: extreme
However, it lacks structure, and, most importantly, atmosphere. Surely the interludes and stuff can be called 'atmospherical', but 90% of the song completely lacks it. They're being technical for the sake of being technical, it doesn't add to the music. When a band like Lykathea Aflame goes completely nuts on their instruments, it actually adds to the music, cause no matter how disorganised and dissonant it is, it belongs there in that part of the song. That's why I dig them, and not the Arctopus.
