Yes, yes....I think I'm going to pick up their new album, I heard it was good.

It is! It harks back to albums like Under the Sign of Hell, but keeps the production of Twilight of the Idols (for the most part.)

I didnt think so, even though British is in the name. I never took it that literall. What else could you call them? They're close to being Heavy Metal but they dont sound similar at all and since NWOBHM was so different... I just assumed. What would you call them?

Mercyful Fate are Blackened Heavy Metal. EDN OF STORY.

And I am also making the soundtrack to this 5 minute short by a local filmer. I'll give updates when I'm finished, it's gonna be bleak, minimalist, ambient.

Necrophagist and Napalm Death on the 17th October :D.

Lucky bitch, I love Napalm Death, but Necrophagist is a big meh for me. First album only. Technical doesn't always mean good.

Yes it does. Always.

On a related note, I'm learning how to play Foul Body Autopsy.

It's coming along slowly :P

Thats an awesome song. Necrophagist is the only Death Metal band I've heard who can get a song stuck in my head for days.

not really. Malmsteen is technical as hell, but I still think of him as "meh" cuz he's stomping the same sonic snake he's always been stomping and was never too original. Plus his ego is the size of Herman Li's hair.

Denmark apparent. According to the Archive's. I check last night, so I may be wrong, but its definately not Britain.

King Diamon is from Denmark. Definitely. Still, I see the NWOBHM almost as a genre, and they definitely have that sound.

Its not really a genre though. Its more of a trend within the Heavy Metal genre. Which just had an effect on other Heavy Metal acts.

Well when I said that I was angry. I couldn't fine any of my Necrophagist CDs execpt the first one. And the bass part to Foul Body Autopsy wasn't too difficult, just a little hard at first but after a few times you'll get the hang of it.

The first riff? I'm still finding it kind of difficult, stretching my fingers over 5,4 and 1 :P.

Besides that, the song isn't as difficult as I thought it would be. I can play most of it, just the 5 string sweep and some of the tapping is a bitch.

The only Necrophagist song that looks even attemptable to me in Diminished To Be. FBA doesn't look as demanding as some of their other stuff though.

You try tapping on a bass guitar. It's a whore. Stretching fingers can be practiced well. If you have to just practice that for a week and you'll get it. I'll try not to say eventually because that's sort of a negative thing. Foul Body Autopsy isn't one of their most difficult songs, but still difficult nonetheless. I've tried sweeping and I can do a 3 string sweep easily on any guitar. I can do a 4 string pretty well too, but a 5 string one isn't my thing. That's why I'm a bassist =P

I find 5 string sweeps a lot easier than 3 string ones.

I MAY be going to see the Guardian of the Blind on Tuesday... seeing as I can get a return ticket to London for £25 as my friends dad has a discount thingy..... wish me all the luck you can. Seeing Blind Guardian would seriously make my life at the moment.

I wish you luck...?
I wish I could go but alas, I have no real money that I can use right now. I need to pay for college books, and a metro card, and many other things that cost money, like Archery. I had a gig 5 days ago but I only made $182.41, which $80 went to books $40 to archery and 50$ to a metro card. That leaves me $10. Which is nothing sadly....=(
Living in New York is too expensive but then again, I can't move until I get a good paying job, WHICH is most likely after I finish Pre-Med at Columbia then I have to go to medical school....wah.

So it'd be in your best interests to go along to the Nu Metal/Metalcore Crew. Links in my sig.

For admiting you've watched VH1 and for believing VH1's opinions on metal, you deserve to be shot. Also, metal isn't limited to just those subgenres, as long as it's in
The Encyclopedia Metallum , it's metal in our books.
