I finally got the time to listen through your EP carefully. It is really great, and even greater if you think of the short time you have been pumping out music. The EP shines through the guitar work, some of the riffs actually make me feel goose bumps (if BM does not make me feel that it is not BM). The drum and base is ok, but nothing spectacular, generally speaking. The volcals are of a type I have not heard too much of, was surprised when I heard them. I think you should lower their volume a little bit though, sometimes they are over the top in my opinion. That sort of removes the mystic feel the vocals initiate. Good creativity anyways. I suppose the name of the EP means, "in the article of death" or simply "article of death".. enlighten me please :) I will do a little review for each track now:
1. Glorified
Starting off quite catchy with a fast paced rythm I have heared similar variations of before... sort of rockish.. vocals starting and you get the feel of the EP. The song quiets down, to melancholy and winds chilling to the bone.. The sound effects are perfect, not cheesy as is the danger when using such.
2. In Articulo Mortis
Countinuing the melancholy of "Glorified", the song sounds softer. I think the vocals are too dominant at certain parts (see first section). Especially when I turned my speakers really loud the screetches became really annoying. I can fully understand this, as it feels wrong to play this song loud. That is kind of like singing in a funeral. A certain part of the song made me feel I was in a saloon in the wild west, the cold wind being the dust blowing.. it was a farm feeling. 2.18 to 2.52 approx. I really liked how you connected it to the next part of the music. Allowing myself to be vivid and my imagination carrying me off, I would say I see a graveyard outside of a small town, with the tomes covered by sand.. a menace rises from beneath. Did not like the start, loved the end.
Whispers from far BeyondWhispers from far Beyond
The "whispers" are way too loud. Totaly ruins the song to be quite frank. I feel there is a lack of a bridge at 0.50 approx. The song was a little boring, did not like this one at all, sorry for being harsh.
Echoes of Despair
Ah, something to please my ears again. Was afraid it was going to be like "Whispers from far Beyond" in the start, but the intro sets the right feel for the longest piece of music on the EP. The riffs are truly amazing.. The middle part "restarts" the song.. the first part being the foreplay and now the real shit starts, rebuilding tension. My favourite song in total. Good black metal with some spices.
Imprisoned
This song is a little death metalish, resemblancing "Echoes of Despair" in that the song has a distinguishable middle part "sticking out" of the regular song. Oh, and did I hear something close to a guitar solo? Liked the vocals of the song since you can at least try to picture the words being sung.. I think I heared "metal" "trapped" "wind".
Into the Abbys
The most technical song on the EP I recon, you get to show some neat guitar skills. The intro is sweet. You told me you practiced 30 hours a week, I don't doubt it ;). "Into the Abbys" is a fitting title for the final song. I do not have a lot to say about this one, except that I like to listen to it. I figured it is an excellent song to play at high volume.. then the vocals started. Either my sound system is a little wacked (may need to adjust some things) or other people have experienced this too..
To conclude I would say damn good job making this, have a huge pat on the back from me :P If you got time/energy/will to change anything I would say tweak the vocals a little some places.. the rest is good enough.
