Well, I think those bands are deserving of the hate they get...

To be fair it hardly seems as if The Kovenant are marketing themselves as black metal, so it's a bit disingenuous to call them "fake" black metal since they've been industrial metal for quite some time.

I also forgot Marduk and Behemoth.

Well, I think those bands are deserving of the hate they get...

Dimmu and Cradle? Obviously :P

Emperor,
Emperor "fake" black metal? That's... ridiculous to say the least.

Dunno if they actually called them "fakes" or just sell-outs.

On the topic of racism, I enjoy Nokturnal Mortum greatly. I disagree with their far-right political views, but I do not let that affect my perception of incredible talent and musical creativity.

Very talented musicians indeed.

By the way... Happy Easter :)

Old Cradle of filth was really good.

I must partially agree; Dusk and Her Embrace would be up there with In The Nightside Eclipse or Aspera Hiems Symfonia if it weren't for Dani's horridly ass-trocious vocals.

That's what selling out is all about, right? Both CoF and Dimmu Borgir released some decent to very good albums in their early days. Than, capitalism hit them in the wallet.

Wow, not only are they ignorant cunts, but they shit on Emperor and Kovenant, two bands that are most likely far better than they are.

Best part is easily "In 2012, Nickelback performed at the NHL Awards in Las Vegas, Nevada after Bathory were unable to perform "Blood On Ice" due to scheduling conflicts." Scheduling conflicts, lol.

Man, this is just fantastic!

Also, there is a user on MA named Ilwhyan who wrote two reviews for the band so far, and I think he might just be the only one on the website who didn't get the memo. Or maybe he's just the greatest and more subtle of all, I don't know.

But seriously guys, the reviews... READ THEM!

So recentlyI have started listening to old The Project Hate MCMXCIX. I have started craving good Industrial metal again.

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for any Industrial metal.

You're talking to the right guy:

Zyklon
Aborym
Arcturus (not technically industrial metal, but they have their moments)
Dodheimsgard/DHG
Dimension F3h
Dimensional Psychosis
Mysticum
The Kovenant
Ram-Zet
Tristania (more gothic than industrial, but w/e)

To name a few. Have fun.

Ah well, that fun with Nickelback on MA came and went. It was the most amusing April Fools joke this year, even if it wasn't believable in the slightest. I almost fell for the response article, though.

On another note, Ghoul what's your other uses for contact than AIM? I recently pulled the plug on Trillian so I only now communicate on Skype and Facebook. If you wish to speak to me on either place for whatever reason, that would be swell.

So I was wondering if anyone can recommend me any 80s and/or early 90s Thrash Metal. The reason I'm talking about that specific time period is because thats my gf's favorite time period when it comes to Thrash. So I feel I need more xD

she also loves Death, Doom, and Stoner Metal :3

Also I guess if you can recommend any Death Metal I'd be okay with that since I feel I'm lacking when it comes to that.

Well either way I honestly never really thought too much of Nokturnal Mortum. Their music is good, there's nothing that I can really point out that's wrong with it, but at the same time I never really found anything special that stands out about them that makes me say "man I feel like listening to some Nokturnal Mortum now". A Ukrainian black metal bands like Gromm is much better imo.

If you guys haven't heard of them yet, I strongly suggest you give this thing a go.

Well, if you haven't checked out Morbid Saint and Meanstreak, now would be a great time to do so :)

From the same time period?

___

Also, Children Of Bodom will be releasing a new album this year. And from what I've read on Metal Archives, it might... IT MIGHT be a possible return to their roots. I sure hope so, because that would be totaly insane! Plus, the cover art looks great, which also gets my hopes up!

I know, right?

The previous albums kind of stayed under the radar, but for some reason this one gets much attention. Or maybe it's just me. Maybe I just really didn't give a fuck about what CoB released anymore since the end of my high school years. But I don't know. Lurking around the MA's forums I ended up reading informations about Halo Of Blood, and from my readings, I felt that this could be good. So since I've always been a CoB fan, I was kind of happy to have something to rejoice myself about for this band... especially considering all the so-so and generic stuff they've been releasing through the last few years. If this album can be anywhere as good as any of the first four CoB albums, I would be very happy.

Don't ask why (and please don't get mad or anything) but I also think Alexi Laiho is a tad overrated...that and you can land a fucking plane on his forehead o.O
I suppose I could give em another listen. But right now I can't say I like em all that much.
