The Metal Hell requires ten metal bands to list in order to join. You've only listed one that counts so far. Unfortunate for you, Avenged Sevenfold do not meet the metal standards we require. If you can provide nine other bands for us that do meet our standards, one of the horsemen will accept you.

Pretty cool stuff, any recommendations as to where to start?
With another band. Let's go with Morbid Angel. Altars of Madness.

Even though I like Deicide, I'll go with this. You try to avert him from a bad band by telling him about another band that only had one good album?

Damn! Their vocalist sounds waaaay too much like John Haughm from Agalloch.

So polite...
Avenged Sevenfold are not Metal AT ALL.
Anyway!!!
I still suggest that you guys listen to the album Der Wanderer über Dem Nebelmeer. It's a great album. Many artists have contributed to this album, including Musk Ox, Agalloch, Fen, Gallowbraid, October Falls, Nachtreich, Mathias Grassow and a lot more. What you get with this album is neofolk, black metal, folk metal, ambient, some doom metal and even accoustic folk.
It's an awesome album, I really suggest you guys listen to it :)

Not one good album. The album that DEFINED death metal.
Weedeater are playing here in April. It'd be silly for me not to go.

Haha, the crowd was so fucking wild there. Brilliant song too and it made me think I've waited long enough to get this album.
Any of you guys who like stoner stuff really should listen to Power Hor by Lesbian. It's one of the best albums I've gotten in the past few months. Then again, I haven't listened to the loads of thrash metal and Akercocke albums yet.
I'm listening to My Guardian Anger by Lux Occulta. It's good. definitely better than Forever Alone (lol forever alone) which I listened to earlier and didn't dig that much. It's definitely a different style than this album, and both of them are different styles than Mother and the Enemy. I haven't listened to Dionysos yet, but I didn't really like what I heard from it much.
Also, check out Power Hor by Lesbian.
And before I forget, you guys should hear Power Hor by Lesbian.

You mean the album that came out two years after Scream Bloody Gore? Yeah.

Fucking Death dickriders.

Because Morbid Angel's original sound didn't die out? Herp.
Fucking Death dickriders.
Haters gonna hate.

You're right. Well, they have had session drummers. So I guess this isn't a drum machine... Maybe the drums are just boring... :P
I don't think this is going to be the next big thing, because their sound is just a little too similar to Agalloch's sound and they are not as progressive or as creative. Still, this is just an EP, the first released actually. So there is plenty of times in the future for this One-Man-Band to get better.
At 2/24/11 01:20 AM, Xarnor wrote: Checked out some more Gallowbraid stuff though, and I love it. Ashen Eidolon is incredible, and the drums are (I'm hoping) real, or at least they're not recognizable as any drum program I'm aware of so I'll just avoid researching it.
Good to ear :)

Not my point, and don't care. I don't listen to Morbid Angel past AoM. What I meant was it's ridiculous to say SBG defined DM when it was was a very primitive form of DM, and that few bands play primitive styles like that, and even more rarely past the 90s. I don't know any band that plays really primitive like that into the 90s. I'm pretty sure if it did exist, I would of heard it by now. But eh, probably some band that never released anything if so. Shit, man. Not to mention the fact that a lot of people rate it low. I love SBG, but that's just ridiculous talk. How much DM do you listen to, anyway?
Haters gonna hate.Fucking Death dickriders.
Death isn't the culmination of DM, or the only DM band.

Much like AoM. Now its all about chugs and guttural vocals and being as brootal as possible.

What the fuck do you even mean by primitive? I haven't heard of any DM bands that sound like Death or AoM morbid angel now.
How much DM do you listen to, anyway?
Considering I'm not an elitist prick, a lot.

I didn't say they were.

CUM ON GUISE. We've been over this before. WHATEVER.
So the IRS took all my money. Fucking assholes. I was having a perfectly good day, had just finished my workout, when lo, there was an issue when I tried to buy a protein shake. Card declined. Whatever, it happens, no sweat. I check my bank account, I'm negative $104, and my savings has been cleaned out. Out of the blue. Here I am expecting a tax return and whabam, I find out that not only did I owe a bunch of money, apparently the IRS can take my money without telling me how much I owe.
I guess I'd have been okay with it since I e-filed my taxes and even e-signed a thing saying they could do a direct debit from my account, figuring that on the off chance that I owed money they'd at least FUCKING TELL ME THEY WERE GOING TO TAKE ALL MY GOD DAMN MONEY.
I'm moving to South America.
So what do you all think of Sybreed? I find them pretty average, however some songs like Dynamic show some promise in my opinion. I only have the album Antares, which like I said is pretty meh overall with a couple good songs, and before I invest (as soon as I get my taxes and shit sorted out) in another album I want to know y'all's opinions. Particularly yours, Duff, as our tastes in metal are pretty similar.
Also, I've really been enjoying Opeth a lot lately. I've kinda had a slump as far as listening to some of my old favorite bands goes, but all that talk of 8-Bit Opeth got me back to listening, and I remembered how much I love them. Anyways.
That's the Dethklok minute.

What do you want to know, exactly?
While we're on the subject of death metal, I'm actually tempted to get a Cannibal Corpse album, particularly their first album Eaten Back to Life. Personally, I don't think they were good for the most part but some songs in this album stick out well to me.

I think The Bleeding is their best album. You can actually make out the (great) lyrics, and it has the best riffs. The stuff they made with George Fisher I don't like so much, as it is quite bland for the most part.
I don't know if any of you know about this website already or not but Shadow Kingdom Records have a nice selection of underground music. I bought a few albums from there last week and they arrived today. The prices might be high for someone who lives in America but for someone like me, the prices are actually good, especially for albums that are hard to get.

I agree with this. I don't mind a bit of fun here but we really don't want this place to look like 4chan.

To be honest, I never looked into The Bleeding. A friend of mine ages ago was obsessed with Cannibal Corpse but didn't get The Bleeding until later. I only listened to the albums he had so I didn't bother looking into Tomb of the Mutilated or The Bleeding. I did give a few songs besides Hammer Smashed Face a listen to last night and to be honest, they're rather bland.

Yeah, there isn't much to say about George Fisher CC but if there's anything that stands out well, I'd like to know about it.

Whether buying another album by Sybreed is a waste of money or a good purchase.
I can't say I agree with him at all, but meh.

Shit! Just listened to it, fucking beautiful, but the drums sound like they were programmed. It sounds a lot like Agalloch mixed with Insomnium and something else but I can't tell.
Liberals defend the exploitation of man by man, Conservatives defend the reverse.

I was considering downloading some CC simply because of how awesome Hammer Smashed Face is. Would it be worth it?

Depends on what album. Their stuff with Chris Barnes is consistently good, but once George Fisher comes along it's kind of hit or miss. In my opinion, the good Fisher stuff is better than anything they made with Barnes.
