Varg Vikernes, right? Yeah, he set the church I was meant to be baptized in on fire...on Christmas.

Inside joke with Primus fans.

I'll go listen to that. I should get a Primus album or two before I go see them.

Sailing the Seas of cheese, Antipop or Pork Soda.

Anyone listen to Cloudkicker? Pretty good progressive metal with some post rock influence, you can download his album Beacons for free here.

I really should make it a New Year's Resolution to listen to Primus.

Well then there's Ministry

DRINKING THE BLOOD OF JESUS, DRINKING IT RIGHT FROM HIS VEINS! LEARNING TO SWIM IN THE OCEAN, LEARNING TO PROWL IN HIS NAME!

I mean yes, even though the only Ministry album I have so far is Pslam 69. Title track is so good, though.

Hey there. :)

Black Sabbath, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Testament, Faith No More, Pantera, Anthrax, Megadeth, Cradle of Filth, Strapping Young Lad, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Lamb of God

These are all acceptable to me.

The Deftones, Slipknot, Disturbed, Korn, System of a Down

However, these are not. As part of the Metal Hell's standards, we don't accept nu-metal bands. Even so, you've still pleased me with the other bands you mentioned. Welcome to the hell!

I also wish to learn more about death metal, 'grind' styles, power metal, and prog. metal, as some of the material I have heard out of these areas are lacking in my library and I am interested in listening to more of it.

I can easily help you out with power metal. If you want to go with some starters, my recommendations are Helloween, Gamma Ray and Blind Guardian. If you've given these guys a listen to and wish to hear more, feel free to ask. As for progressive metal, the most I know are Dream Theater, Symphony X, Opeth, Fates Warning, Queensrÿche and Mastodon but they're all good stuff. Well, Queensrÿche's dependable, though. If you wish to hear more from the prog metal genre, I'm sure others will assist you.

Although I got this during Christmas shopping, I had to swipe Legend's From the Fjords when I saw it on eBay. If I waited until after, I'm sure I wouldn't have seen the album then so it's best taking my chances now. I got the album today and it's good. It's a shame this band only ever released one album and I'm glad I discovered them from the song Slough Feg covered in Twilight of the Idols.

But still manages to beat a lot of 2010 releases nonetheless. I still recommend The Animal Spirits to any Slough Feg fan but they've definitely made better albums in the past.

I mostly listen to power metal or REAL metal like metalica and all the same genre
I listen to a little of rock like AC/DC
For ``new`` metal i would say FFDP or Disturbed but that is when im bored...

I don't know if they used God's punishment, but I'm sure they said that "contributing" to "God's creation" would most likely help you get your VIP spot in Heaven.

I own Sailing The Sees of Cheese and Antipop. Antipop is the best when it comes to the instrumental, but Sailing The Sees Of Cheese is the funniest.

So tell me about that REAL metal you are talking about. And please, when you do so... avoid naming the most popular and most commercial band ever, and try to name at least a few other metal bands. If you are interrested, there is probably 1000000000000000000 metal bands you could try listenning to... and maybe that will surprise you... but they are not "all the same genre" !!! :O :O :O

Sorry for the double-post, but I didn't notice your post.

My favorte Black Metal is mainly atmospheric or depressive black metal.

I suggest you check out Wolves In The Throne Room, Austere and the early work by Agalloch (From Which Of This Oak EP and Pale Folklore). I realise that Agalloch are playing Folk/Black, so... might as well list some other black/folk metal bands, like Ulver (Bergtatt) and Enslaved.

I don't know if they count, but Empyrium's music could be of some kind of interest to you if you like Symphonic Black Metal.

If you would like to listen to more agressive Black Metal... Balrog, Sigh, Ulver (Nattens Madrigal), Peste Noire, Gorgoroth, Burzum, Mayhem. I'm not the BM pro in here, but these are still awesome bands :)

You have two choices. Dirty, filthy black metal that's raw and primitive or atmospheric bullshit. Choose wisely. Or you could just listen to Tormentor. They're pretty much the band that all the Norwegian BM bands ripped off.
