Bands like Paramore only feed on trends. They are an emo-ish pop punk-rock band. They feed on a trend. This kind of band would have never existed if it wasn't for the trend they are following.

I think (now correct me if I'm wrong Duff) that he's referring that he hates bands that are only popular because of a certain trend, whereas otherwise they wouldn't be popular. And he dislikes the fact that people think these bands are good when they are only considered that because a trend has made them more popular.

I don't think I would have bothered with Damageplan to begin with but knowing that Corey Taylor featured in one of their songs is enough for me to not bother listening to them in my lifetime. Corey Taylor was a better vocalist when he first joinned Slipknot and wasn't such an arrogant bitch back then. He sucks live, cannot sing like on his records. But on his first three records with them, his vocals were alright. My point is that you shouldn't diss a record only because it features vocals of a singer from a band you dislike. In this particular case though, Damage Plan was a terrible band two, so we are still not out of the bushes. But let's take Origin for my example. Their original vocalist left the band and was replaced by Sol Asunder's vocalist. SA is a terrible Melodeath/Metalcore band. I was pretty depressed when I first heard these news, but judging from what the fans of Origin who saw them live since then, the new vocalist does the job pretty well.

If it wasn't that Corey Taylor was such an arrogant twat and the vocalist of Slipknot, I'm pretty sure you guys could like his voice. However, it seems that he cannot sing live anymore...

Guttural vocals aren't exclusive to death metal. Also, she's not growling. It's more like a harsh rasp that's pretty common in folk metal from what I remember. You should listen to bands with females who actually go guttural. Like this one. Her growl is deeper than most DM vocalists. Pretty impressive for a little blonde Norwegian girl.
