really? I don't remember Pretest or Barriers and Passages sounding like that. They must have changed their style.

Their new album Psychic Maps sounds like something out of a how-to Gorguts manual. Then again, my ears were ringing and the guitars weren't mixed especially well, so how I remember it and how it was supposed to sound may be completely different.

Here I am, bored with everything.

I know I haven't posted here in awhile, but in your opinion, what is the worst metal album ever? For me, it has to be In Abohorrence Dementia by Limbonic art. I just can't stand it.

I've always seen them as posers because of that... The kind of band that just wouldn't get that much attention and that much love if they were not always taking kvlt pictures of themselves. I dunno how to say it. It just seems that a lot of their fans like them because of the image and because of the "acting".

Their music is not horrible though. I listen to a few of their tracks and I'd say they are kind of good. What do you guys think?

I like them, but Nergal is an extremely bad singer... well... he has a nice growling style, but he can't really sing, his voice is always on the same tone in every music...

Also, my brother bought me a Behemoth's T-shirt from Nuclear Blast, it's pretty awesome.

I love Behemoth, because of the power their music has. It's not the typical "easy listening" kind of stuff, it's got so much energy and really pumps me up. Not saying there aren't any other bands like them, but they are certainly great.

Ok mate, we'll all let you be a cock bag to people if you let us be cock bags to people without trying to tell us off, ok? Thanks cunt. =)

Rust in Peace is a damn good album, but like Delirium I've listened to Megadeth and Rust In Peace to the point of redundancy. Megadeth blew my mind when I was twelve, but no longer.

And for your information, Dalnaki is right. Megadeth have released songs that I would consider shitty commercial mediocrity. You listened to I'll Be There? A Secret Place? 1000 Times Goodbye? And Moto Psycho is a fucking shit song too.

High on Fire is fucking sweet.

Also, Soundwave is definitely worth it for me. It's like someone looked inside my head, noticed Melvins and High on Fire are my favourite bands and decided to shove them on a stage down the road for me.

And I'll get to see Bruce Dickinson with my own two eyes, as well as Josh Homme, and Matt Pike. Fucking Matt Pike is gunna be off da hook yo.

In fact, I know about their bad albums, but we were discussing Rust In Peace and Dalnaki said it was commercial mediocrity. They did release a good amound of shit songs... but these, won't outnumber the good tracks of Megadeth.

Then don't listen? The production is fine. If you're gonna complain about it, then don't listen to bands like that.

Not to mention the fact that a polished, sterile production would ruin the album and the music.

Wintersun - Wintersun.
Cause I'm a very tolerant person when it comes to genuinely bad stuff (and to be honest nothing is really coming to mind anyway). But this album has so much hype and such a fanbase and its just generic Meldodeath.

Alternatively any Folk Metal album that isn't Ragnarok.

Speaking of production quality.

Lately I've become a real sucker for crisp, air tight, clean production.
If I can't find something in 320kbps or higher I usually won't bother getting it.
And if the album was made with garbage production I'll probably hate it.

Sure there is over production on lots poppy scene bands. But bands like Hour of Penance/New Behemoth for example have excellent production on their music but I know people will say it's over produced bullshit, when really; it's just produced well and not rubbish like 99% of 'trve kvlt' bands.

So basically what I'm asking is, why is their so much hate on well produced modern metal?

Isn't it obvious? Because it's sterile, overpolished, and clean to the point of sounding like Phil Collins.

At 8/8/10 03:31 AM, Oppugnant wrote: So basically what I'm asking is, why is their so much hate on well produced modern metal?

Because it's emotionless and robotic imo.

Also, bitrate /= production quality. Of all of my cd's that I've copied to my computer I've ripped to FLAC and almost all of them would be considered badly produced by most people.

Response to Metal Hell 2010-08-08 06:10:40

I prefer albums that have a modest amount of quality, not a big fan of over-produced shit (All That Remains - Overcome, plus the guitars and drums sound shit) but I'll also listen to some black metal that sounds like it was recorded with a Singstar microphone dipped in horseshit.

Could anyone direct me to some bands like that please?

This is interesting for me, because I usually associate those feelings with the actual song writing rather than the sound.

Yeah I was referring to the quality of the sound there more than production quality, was a bit misleading there.

At the London meet, me and Coop were singing Ace of Spades and he had his Maiden T-Shirt while I had my Black Sabbath T-Shirt. That had to be a very metal moment in my life. Picture below.

Also, on the topic of sound production. I'm not really picky just as long as the music is loud and clear and feels energetic enough.

After Valkyries there's Control the Divine. An epic little number with good guitar and drum work. I can't call it amazing, but it's one of the better songs on the album.

That's funny because I find Valkyries and Control the Divine to be the weakest songs on the album.

It's either Bat for Lashes or Imogen Heap. At the moment I perfer the albums of BfL but I wouldn't travel almost the length of the country for BfL which I am doing for Imogen. So it's probably Imogen Heap.
