Also Voivod and Annihilator (at least their first two albums). I know there is another band I'm thinking of, but I can't remember it off the top of my head.

Ahhh yes, UneXpect was the other band I was thinking of. Yeah, Alice in Hell and Never, Neverland are fucking great. Their other stuff doesn't live up to those two, but they're not bad by any stretch of the imagination (except Metal. That sucked). And I love every almost every riff that Jeff Waters comes up with for them.

So for those guitarists in here, please list me some easy-to-play metal songs. And don't start listing some complex Necriphagist/Fleshgod shit and say 'OH BUT THAT'S SO EASY TO PLAY I USE IT TO WARM MY FINGERS UP'. I'm talking basic shit. Not Smoke On The Water or Enter Sandman basic. Just shit that's easy and fun to jam to.

Thankyou :)

He's got a good point though, because Death aren't very wanky at all, especially when compared to the other bands you listed.

The guy asked for suggestions. And looking at the few bands he listed I really thought Tech Death would be the most appropriate genre for him. So yeah, I had to go with the wankers first. Still, bands like Blood Red Throne do not wank at all. Plus, it's not like I intentionaly left Death out of my list. I think they make awesome music, I just forgot to put them on the list.

High five. But in all seriousness, I don't know why you guys are naming Canadian bands without even mentioning the one that is obviously the best.

Nickelback.

We seem also to have forgotten Neuraxis on the list of Canadian metallers... Neuraxis is fucking dope. 'Specially Trilateral Progression... Even though they're playing into the whole 1984-ish album theme, which SO many bands have done to differing success.

Cephalic Carnage has some sick "the future is gonna suck" songs too... I.E. "The Omega Point" and "Endless Cycle of Violence."

Seems I never see CC mentioned here... Is there a reason for this?

I'm doing good. I finally took the plunge by downloading Slough Feg's self-titled album. I really, REALLY want to buy this album on CD or even on iTunes or Amazon MP3 if I have no other choice but I can't even get it on there. The album is good and if they plan to re-release the album, I'll be sure to purchase it to show my respect to the band.

Never heard of Foreigner but besides Rush who have some very metal moments, none of them are metal. To get a better idea of metal, give the following a listen to if you haven't already:

Black Sabbath
Judas Priest
Megadeth
Motörhead
Slayer

Because despite the majority of people here loving vapid, shallow, pointless, stupid, fuck I can go on all day wank metal, they don't really go out of their way for it unless it has an easy to swallow gimmick.

Like say BmT has -core elements, Gorod brees and sounds like a Suffocation with down syndrome trying to be Yngwie Malmsteem, or Crytopsy has a vocalist with a funny name, Necrophagist was the band that made wanking acceptable, etc. Shit like that.

I just discovered this sludge band Woburn House. pretty good. It has one of the two guys from Klabautamann on drums.

Also, I got some more metal albums.

Marty Friedman - Music For Speeding
Planet X - Quantum (some of you may have heard bad things, but you heard wrong)
Baroness - First
Baroness - Second
Skeletonwitch - Beyond the Permafrost
Ufomammut - Eve

I have high hopes for Eve since I loooove Lucifer Songs, Snailking, and Idolum. I think I'll wait 'till I'm burned the fuck out, lying on my bed with my sub-woofer and speakers hanging above my head, staring at my ceiling to listen to this.

At 7/3/10 10:30 AM, Dalnaki wrote: Led Zeppelin is just a bunch of stolen songs and blues covers. Nothing more to it.

I heard they ripped off a lot of songs, but they were really good. same with Deep Purple. I was upset when I heard a comparison between one of my favorite songs, Child in Time, and a song released earlier by a lesser known band, but damn, that song is still so good.

But yeah, Led Zep was always blues rock, never heavy metal, and it doesn't matter if anyone agrees. They're wrong, because they're blues rock.

At 7/3/10 10:34 AM, TheUnwisePoet wrote: I will not agree with you.

I don't care. You are incorrect. Influencing the development of metal doesn't make you metal.

I think I resent that... Have you listened to Xenosapien? As far as wanking goes there's really not a whole lot unless you and I define wanking differently.
And wtf is BmT?

Wow... just wow... Who the freakin fuck are you? What makes you think that you can judge us based on your mediocre knowledge of Death Metal? Tell me how Blood Red Throne wanks. Tell me how Blotted Science wanks.

And now for what you consider wanking. Go listen to Origin. They have very technical, yet very melodic and riffs that really fit well into the song. Now you want to compare awesome bands like Origin to stupid mindless wanking like BTM

Like say BmT has -core elements, Gorod brees and sounds like a Suffocation with down syndrome trying to be Yngwie Malmsteem, or Crytopsy has a vocalist with a funny name, Necrophagist was the band that made wanking acceptable, etc. Shit like that.

No, BTM doesn't have core elements, it's deathcore with extra wank. Now you click that link and listen from 2:47 and tell me that BTM has "core elements" you silly fuck. Your lame argument against Cryptopsy just shows how weak your point is. You want to make us look like stupid guitar wanking fans, but you can't even come up with facts.

You also need to remember that deathcore ripped off death metal, not the opposite. Gorod doesn't bree, they have very low gutturals, but no shit like brokeNCYDE and the such.

Also, there is a lot of the tech death fans in here who don't like Necrophagist. You are wrong again...

I love playing early Metallica, Megadeth, Death, Gojira stuff just for jamming fun... and Iron Maiden even though I don't like listening to them. Playing Yngwie rhythm and fills is good fun too. Far Beyond the Sun is so good for it :D.

But your opinion is shit since you fucking claimed that you are not a Death Metal fan. So the only DM bands you like are water down death metal bands with very little of what really defines Death Metal. While Necrophagist are a death metal band, when they start playing their technical shit, their is not a lot of death metal left in their music.

HNNNNNG I HAVE OPINIONS ALJAA;FD GOD I AM JUST SO UPSET RIGHT NOW BECAUSE YOU DISAGREE WITH ME

blotted science wank. that doesn't mean they're not good. "wank" means they play fast and technical for the sake of it, which describes basically every tech death band in the world.

nev likes necrophagist, big fucking deal. he doesn't need to like TRUE REAL DEATH METAL THAT DEFINES WHAT DEATH METAL IS to think that necrophagist sound good. he likes Death, too.
