Timo Tolkki may have left the band but the rest of the bandmates insisted on keeping the legacy alive, even without the mainman of the band for over 20 years. I'm actually glad Tolkki left Stratovarius as his creativity has been going downhill for a long time now and Strato's self-titled album was an abomination. Polaris is a huge step up but it's no Visions.

But I'm not talking about clicking one of the most popular shit band like Cradle Of Filth getting tagged black metal very often. It's all related. Last.fm is a horrible resource for genre labels for artists as anyone can tag any artists as ANYTHING! Wikipedia is more reliable than Last.fm for genres. Personally, I don't think Mastodon have any -core influences in their music. Well, I'm not sure about Remission as I've yet to hear it but the rest is either very little to none.
