So I haven't listened to Amon Amarth in a while, but now that I did I remember why I like them so much. I just can't describe them. They somehow make their instruments sound viking-ish.

I've always just imagined them as a bunch of vikings who found instruments one day and started to fucking own.

Everything by them is just so viking-ey. Valhalla awaits me.

I once listened to the album Twiligt of the thunder god, and all the songs were catchy as hell. I listened to it for like 2 days, then got sick of it, and i haven't listened to it since and don't want to.

Metal is the only music people should listen to. rap and hip hop are shit for street trash.

Yeah, I think Amon Amarth sounds best when you don't listen to them constantly. Listen. Get bored. Listen again. Repeat.

You can list something like 80 metal bands, but still you choose to put Slipknot in your top 10?... That's sad :'(

I don't think Vikings would be polished melodeath riffing that often sounds like leftover At the Gates riffs if they were ever in a music form. Not to mention the fact that Amon Amarth tends to get -corish at times.

First of all, the general population that resides in this club all agree that they're not metal. Second, they're not metal. Third, we don't mind the fact that you like them, we just don't discuss them in here (refer to the first two points).

Holy shit is Twilight's self titled album boring. Probably the worst of any "super group" I've ever heard.

Manticora are amazing.

Helloween were never leaning towards death metal...Walls Of Jericho was sort of thrash metal but not death.

They looked a lot happier on the Kiske era though.

Not really on walls, if you listen to their demos they sound a little bit, but not much.

Yeah, that's a more fitting description for them in that picture.

They really are just like what I described, Technical Prog Metal with Death Metal influences.

I think that Synaptic Plasticity would be one of their tracks on which you can find the most Death Metal influences.
Laser Lobotomy is the first track that really got me into their music.

Still... all the tracks on the album are worth it. The Machinations Of Dementia is one of my favorite albums ever. Ron Jarzombeck is the guitarist of the band and probably the best guitarist ever :)

Wow. That was awesome. I wasn't expecting an instrumental band, but it was fantastic. I must now track down their albums so I can put it on my iPod!

I frown at this statement. Amon amarth really doesn't sound reminiscent of at the gates.

This album is simply fantastic !! It's almost one hour long, it contains 16 tracks, each and every single one of these being awesome. If there is a record you should buy, it's most certainly this one. Well worth the 20 bucks you would have to spend on it :)

I still haven't listened to much Mayhem but I did had to listen to Chainsaw Gutsfuck because of its humourous track title and lyrics. The song itself isn't that great but I suppose it isn't one of their best songs.

I ordered it last night, and I'll probably get it sometime late this week or early next week. I am now counting the seconds. Actually, I got it for less from a speciality store nearby my town, for about 8 bucks. Not a bad price, I'm thinking (that's not including the S&H fees). Also, you mentioned Blotted Science was a supergroup, are there any other great supergroups out there? I'm interested into looking into them.
