What the fuck is this shit?

Every Time I Die are decent for what they are, but it's not really my kind of music. So I don't know how Buckley's going to do.

I'm not even going to count the Fall Out Boy guys as a negative. Hurley seems to be a very good drummer if this is anything to go by. And I'm almost positive that Trohman can do more than the 3 chords he's used throughout his career up until this point.

Anthrax? Don't get me fucking started on Anthrax.

And 10,000 Days has the awesome Vicarious, The Pot and Wings For Mary Pt.1 & 2

Dude i recomend Lateralus cause of schism and parabola but instead of 10,000 days which is my first tool album i recommend Aenima bcause of the badassnes of it.

So apart from meeting the bands, what have you guys gotten thrown to you/picked up at shows? I have Phil Demmel's guitar pick, and a gay little badge from Matt Heafy (which is how i almost shook his hand, being on the rail has its benefits).

Wouldn't mind getting a set-list one day, or a drumstick.

Response to Metal Hell 2009-11-27 12:45:59

Lol most suck ass shorts ever.

Paramore - Awesome singer, and not just her body - I like her voice and personality too, but the rest of the band sucks.

Anthrax/Every Time I Die/FOB - Will obviously be a shittie metalcore project, not an actual metal band.

Ensiferum North America Tour - Hypocrisy completely dropped off this tour, and since i've seen Ensiferum, BlackGuard and Swashbuckle all twice before i'm not going(Although I haven't seen Ex Deo yet, I admit)

Municipal Waste - IS GOING TO FUCK ME UP ON TUESDAY DECEMEBER 8TH, anyone ever listen to Brutal Truth, Phobia, Cauldron or Beyond The Line Of Sight? Those four bands are introing for Municipal Waste on the 8th. Also, this show is only ten bucks - win? I THINK SO!

Stuff i've gotten from shows - Toooooo much to list off remembrance, i've gotten a LOT of picks, drumsticks and set-lists over the years. But the only time I ever caught a shirt was a Sonata Arctica shirt when I saw them in '08 with Nightwish,

HELP PL0X - My parents have given me a choice, either see three 20 dollar shows in january 15 minutes away all on weekends or one 65 dollar show two hours away on a tuesday.

The three shows in worcester:

Korpiklaani (I've seen once)
Tyr
Swashbuckle (I've seen twice)
White Wizzard

Nile
Immolation
Krisiun (I've seen twice)
Abigail Williams
Dreaming Dead

Arch Enemy
Exodus (I've seen once)
Arsis
Mutiny Within

And the Boston show, two hours away:
Slayer
Megadeth
Testament
(Haven't seen none of these^)

If you were in my shoes, which would you chose and why?

I need help making up my mind!

Testament - Into The Pit

You don't need to beat the shit out of people to enjoy Exodus. You don't need to fuck corpses for whatever to enjoy Cannibal Corpse.

The ambience of music like CC is agressivity, so this is why people make mosh pits during their show. Ambience is not just in the words of the music, but also in their sound. So when I listen to Funki Porcini, I don't sleep, I feel the ambience of sleepyness.

They're just sounds in your ear, and you get to enjoy them with other people in front of a band you like, who are there playing for you and everyone in the room.

As I said, I should give it a try.

But to make that kind of show I'd need to know a little more about three specific genres
Stoner and Doom.... and em... that Drone thing? what is it exactly? Thanks guys :)
A shitload of suggestions

Thanks man. But what is Drone? It's not metal right? Cause I heard you guys talking about Drone and Drone Metal as two different genres. Or maybe that was when you were talking about Slude?
I'll go check out some infos online, but I trust your words, so if you have any good explanations on what exactly these genres are.

I know what Doom is, I really like bands like Agalloch, but I don't know bands who are straight down Doom Metal. I know stoner metal is... stoner metal :P
but what about Drone and Sludge?

Out of them all, this is easily the band I've been listening to the most for the past week. I'll be honest, my favorite genre is melodic death metal. Just has the emotion, along with the brutality and awesomeness. Still like Insomnium and Kataklysm the best though, but I pretty much been only liking Dark Tranquillity's song "Focus Shift".

I thought they had a very special sound, that made them kind of different. To me, Dark Tranquillity are a very good definition of what Melodic Death Metal is at his best. Along with Kalmah and Wintersun.
What I dislike about MDM is when they fall into poppyness and easy writting parterns with the catchy chorus. A catchy chorus is not bad at all, it just sucks when a band stick to one writting patern and sell-out like All That Remains did :'(

At 11/27/09 03:26 PM, HeavenDuff wrote: Thanks man. But what is Drone? It's not metal right? Cause I heard you guys talking about Drone and Drone Metal as two different genres.

Drone is Metal.
But like with Prog, Thrash and Doom you don't need to say Metal in order for people to know what you're talking about. Whereas Power, for example, sounds retarded with the Metal suffix.

Or maybe that was when you were talking about Slude?

Sludge is perhaps less Metal as its a mixture of Doom Metal and Hardcore Punk. Its like taking the misery of Doom and making it into misantrophy :). Sorta like slower, heavier, more misery and weed-laden Thrash.
And in some cases like Dystopia its apparently more Crust Punk than it is Metal, but I don't really care for that, it sounds Metal enough for me.

Drone is noise influenced minimalist Doom. It's too slow for riffs so its all about the ambience and soundscapes.

I know what Doom is, I really like bands like Agalloch, but I don't know bands who are straight down Doom Metal.

I don't consider Agalloch Doom. I have them under Folk Metal in my iTunes, but whatever.
Straight up Doom Metal would be your Reverend Bizarre's and Candlemass's. Very Sabbathy.

I know stoner metal is... stoner metal :P

Stoner Metal is stuff like Kyuss and Fu Manchu, isn't it? Stoner Doom is just Doom with extra psychedelia.

So you really aren't gay? At all? You sure Nev?

Thanks for your advice guys, i'm going to see if I can convince my parents to bring me to all four shows. :)

So shows i'm going to for certain:
1.) Municipal Waste, Brutal Truth, Phobia, Cauldron and Beyond The Line Of Sight all on Dec. 8th.
2.) Epica, Threat Signal, Blackguard and Agents Of The Paranormal on January 30th
3.) Hammerfall, Powerglove, Frozen and Infinite Descent on March 6th.

Shows I HOPE to go to, but not sure if I can or not:
1.)Ensiferum,Ex Deo,Blackguard, Swashbuckle and Underlying Truth on Dec. 4th (Hypocrisy canceled)
2.) Korpiklaani, Tyr, Swashbuckle and White Wizzard on Jan. 8th
3.) Nile, Immolation, Krisiun, Abigail Williams and Dreaming Dead on Jan. 16th
4.) Arch Enemy, Exodus, Arsis and Mutiny Within on Jan. 23rd
5.) Slayer, Megadeth and Testament on Feb. 14th

So three shows i'm going to for certain, five potential shows. :D How is the rest of you guys's concert future looking for potential goings and positive goings?

Also, Smeagol - Add me on facebook.
