Because they're obviously bad examples and they're all you think of when folk metal comes up.

Their early singles are alright to listen to.
But they're meh nowadays.

I really don't care to be honest. The fans don't do anything to annoy me, as is the case with Machine Head, which is why I assume you're picking me out here?

Sorry if I didn't fly of the handle.

And my friends who are into Metal all love yer Korpik-folk bands, so I'm exposed chatter about them often :(.

shores of sheol was cool, but it's too much like a tongue-twister, and the "sh" isn't a very strong consonant, so it doesn't sound good when used as an alliteration.

I've never had a problem with it being a tongue twister, though I think he changed it more because of a change in musical direction

I didn't really, either. It's not so bad that you can't say it, but when I read, i pronounce everything in my head and sometimes go through the motions of speaking it, and it always feels weird to see "Shores of Sheol"

I'll just answer this because I really want people to have my opinion...

The drums, amazing. Instrumentals, ok. Vocals, shitty when soft but decent when hard. The only decent song by them is people = shit, but everything else kind of sounds like rock. They really aren't metal.

Last weekend I took ecstasy for the first time. At first I didn't feel anything, but then I felt a boost of energy in my legs and I started to think about a lot of stuff at the same time. I normally like to think about many different things. Philosophizing about everything. But with that ecstasy I went totally crazy. And then I just felt the urge to listen to Agalloch. Falling Snow was the first title I knew I had to listen to.

I won't encourage any of you guys to take drugs, but that was fucking insane!
I was so freakin happy. I was just there lying in the couch in the living room at my friend's house during a party, with my girlfriend sitting beside me.

I tell you guys, INSANE !!!
Agalloch already was my favorite band, but it made it... if possible... even more awesome !!!

You were under that exact same misconception once too.

Even I thought Slipknot was metal as well, until July 2004 when I learned otherwise. Ugh, bad memories indeed.

Sorry for bringing it up again, but I came across that thread again randomly a few weeks ago, and now all of a sudden it popped in my mind again. I know it's almost 4 years old, but I know that over time, you saw that I was right. I'm not going to make you apologize to me or anything over something that old, unless you strongly feel compelled to for some reason.

I don't know if Goat has been here lately...then again, I haven't either. But I'll keep his new band name in mind, though I still like the Shores of Sheol name. Now I'm off to listen to some German depressive black metal again, otherwise I'm just going to feel worse than I already am right now.

I loved Slipknot back then, and other horrible stuff (and I don't just mean horrible music). I don't remember that thread, though. I'm surprised I ever would have tried to claim that ANY band was metal, whether it was or not, since I fully knew that I had no idea what was or wasn't metal then.

I figured as much, but we all have those phases of liking really shitty stuff. I don't even really want to talk about the kind of trash I used to like long, long ago. I just looked at the second page of that thread, where I quoted you, and your name was...Fumetsu316. I actually do remember that name around here, but only vaguely.

You know, you and I are like brothers. I listen to Clutch so god damn much. Like I was listening to Strange Cousins from the West all day man, listened to it like 5 or 6 times man. And all of their albums. I love the first one, the self titled, The Elephant Riders, From Beale Street to Oblivion and the new one so god damn much. Marko felt the same way I do about his own recordings. I cringe at a lot of that song man. Instrumentally I like it, but Forest of Lies is great, I really love that and am proud for writing, because I really wanted to hear a song like that. Go listen to Forest of Lies. The vocals are way better on it aswell. Everytime you record something it's way better. My old stuff sucks, Marko's old stuff sucks. I just acquired a recording studio in my house so I'm going to fucking record heaps of shit now, and it will be way better. BRUTAL.

So, Megadeth + Slayer was total win. The highlight of the night was singing along to Peace Sells, hearing In My Darkest Hour live, moshing to Megadeth, dehydrating, so epic. Then for the encore they played Holy Wars (after we screamed at them to do so), and then stopped halfway, started up on Mechanix, then finished and went back to Holy Wars. Was so hot.

Slayer opened with World Painted Blood, played a fair bit of new stuff which was good, but meh. Could have sworn Lombardo's drumming almost blew my pants off. They ended with Raining Blood, which was totally epic. No encore from them though :/

Got myself a shirt, Endgame artwork with tour dates on the back :D tonight was followed by a McDonalds run afterwards, which has become tradition after every metal show.

Oh and I started off about 10m from the stage, by the end of Megadeth I was 1m from the rail. Stayed a little further back when Slayer was on, though.

All in all, quite an epic night, well worth the money, well worth the wait. 2/4 down, and i doubt I'll ever be able to say I've seen all 4, but 3/4 when Metallica comes is enough for me :D
