Guys, Despised Icon, your opinion on them?

I checked out The Ills of Modern Man after someone recommended them as Tech Death and I'm kinda impressed, though they aren't really Tech Death.
For a 'Deathcore' band they are pretty technical and don't have the cliche BMTH-style vocals.

Indeed. Let's hope this August will be the actual time (lol) they release it. They've spent at least three years on the album now, so the delays better be worth it in the end. I've been dying for another Wintersun album ever since I listened to their debut album back in early 2007. ;_;

That's the thing. A name like that would be awkward to chant. Infact, I had to slowly say the word immaculates at first.

If they can do another awesome album like they did in 2007... it's going to be the greatest summer of my life !!!
and they better release it in August, or else I'll travel to Finland to kick their asses !!!

Also...

Ride forever onwards stare into the sun
Where hopes and dreams are everlasting marching on and on
Rise another day across the distant skies
Where the dawn above the winter moonlight shines upon the fall of our lives

It barely rates as death metal.

All the local bands on this fucking island are sloppy deathcore faggotshit with atrocious vocals and bad soloing. Getting really tired of it.

Kinda freaked out by this, but in the past year I've listened to and enjoyed more rap than I have metal.

speaking of ridiculous names and such, me & my friend used to waste our time in english back in school thinknig up the stupidest band names we could. my favourites were merlins grave, fields of beef, satans wind chimes and throbbing member. last one would definitely have to be grindcore.

Hey, Bruce, do you know anything good and atmospheric that has good production and isn't irritating? something along the lines of Blut Aus Nord's first two albums and Negura Bunget?

You could try Deathspell Omega or Darkestrah. If you find Fas - Ite or Epos you've got some good atmosphere going as well as production. Chaos Moon is good too, but a little on the raw side. I always find Klabautamann atmospheric as well, but in my tastes. You might not. They're worth checking out anyways. They're an amazing band. Der Ort is crazy good. But yeah, even if you just pick up Epos you'll be satisfied. It's a half an hour long song and you'll probably get sucked in. And if Deathspell's blastbeats start to grate on you you can check out Secrets of the Moon as well.

I started off with listening to Spirit Crusher, which is a fantastic song and recently, I got the Symbolic album. It's a great album, but it's hard to say which ones are the best since they're all as good as each other. I plan to get more Death soon, but first, I'm thinking of going on a prog spree and see if I end up liking some of the prog bands more than ever as I get more of their albums, such as Opeth, Fates Warning and Queensrÿche.
