Attention all:

Internet fixed (I dropped Verizon. Fuck them, I have Roadrunner now), and I'm going to be active again. Also, I need some of you who are into industrial metal to get some older stuff by Pitchshifter. Anything from Industrial and Desensitized are incredibly good. Industrial is very much a Godflesh worship album, but good nonetheless while Desensitized is their take on moderately thrashy stuff.

Here I am, bored with everything.

Shitloads, from my dad. Heaps of thrash, hardcore punk, blues and stuff. Some famousy ones I've gotten from him are Game Over by Nuclear Assault, Metallica's first 3 albums, Butthole Surfer's debut EP in it's original form, a load of Jimi Hendrix, and a Raw Power album. He wasn't into lame stuff, no Iron Maiden or glam or anything. That's kinda influenced my taste, I think Iron Maiden are a great band and stuff but. Yeah. I don't listen to them or anything.

I've been thinking about trying some 12" stuff a) because of the age old preference arguments and b) because I've found some vinyl with extra songs that the cd doesn't have.

I think the way it sounds is really awesome.

I'm really going to have to agree. Vinyl's dynamic range is better, the faint crackle is just so excellent too. It sounds warmer too. And there's something great about having a pizza-sized hunk of music, it feels so much more awesome. and you can see the album art.

i wish i had enough money to afford vinyls and a record player.

Guys, check out Azure Emote. It's awesome death metal. I'm listening to it right now.

On the topic of records, In my senior year of high school, one of my teachers borrowed a record player from the library. And she brought her Emerson, Lake & Palmer albums. Those awesome lunch breaks.

This signature makes use of various clichés and/or 'emotional' lyrics/quotes, hopefully it makes me appear deep.

Me and my sister can't stop laughing. She doesn't like any metal either. The vocals at the start are fucking hilarious.

Black, no arguement needed to back it up.

That's brilliant news! Hopefully your new ISP will be much better than the last one.

Also, I need some of you who are into industrial metal to get some older stuff by Pitchshifter.

I'll have to put them on my "To listen to" list since I have a huge lack of industrial metal in my library. I know I should be ashamed of that.

She sounded like a great teacher. :) She reminds me of one of the Computing teachers I had in college who said Neil Peart is one of the best drummers of all time and of course, I couldn't agree with him more.

Its got gore, blood, violence and misogyny. Give the snowman an upside down cross and goat horns and you've got a Metal classic.

I know that you're joking.

Yet I feel compelled to write a song about this.

And considering on my band's official page, I described it as 'Black Metal/Thrash Metal/Grindcore', I should probably get working on that Grind aspect.

Unfortunately, all I have in terms of guitars at the minute is my acoustic.

Or, I could use my electric with so little distortion that the fucking Stones wouldn't have considered it enough.

Do what the Kinks did to get "distortion" and beat the shit out of your amp... stab the speaker cone with knives and stuff.
Worked for them.

The Kinks, awesome as they are, aren't really famed for uber brutal and crunchy distortion.

But, I have a spare amp in the attic, I believe.

I'll be back in 20 minutes.

He's not really all that synth heavy at all. I'd really start off with Ziltoid (like Nev just recommended, also, thanks Nev), and I'd get Physicist which is very SYL like. I wouldn't get Synchestra just yet, because it's very proggy (unless you don't mind it, which it does feature some synths). Ocean Machine-Biomech is really good and I whole-heartedly recommend it.

yeah i dont know, progressive rock is one of my favourite genres ever, with some of my favourite all time bands like knig crimson, pink floyd, porcupine tree etc. but theres something about the clean accurateness and 'twiddleyness' of prog metal that put me off in the past. and synths. not that i always hate synths, i like em in a lot of music but some of the cheesier ones are just godawful.

Yeah, she was great. She also brought Tommy by the Who.

She gave me her copy of the first issue of Heavy Metal Magazine as a graduation present. I knew she had it, but I was amazed that she would be so nice to let me have it.

I should probably go back there sometime and see if they're still teaching there.

And when I think of things making people orgasm I think of Orgazmo and nothing ever competes with that in my mind :P.
