on the subject of black metal: i have the immortal album "pure holocaust," and my version says the first track is like over half an hour. what the fuck?

The fuck you mean by that you oversized dildo?! I am everything about black metal it's what sparked my interest in metal it's self!

what i mean by that is that if you think bad production is the most important part of black metal, you need to rethink your life. like, Marduk's Nightwing is a fantastic bm album, and it doesn't have shitty as hell production.
also not to be like a huge dick or anything but It's kind of hard to say you're everything about black metal when you're a 17 year old living in indiana. your whole trve grim and kvlt thing is really hard to deal with constantly.
trve svbvrban blakk metal

They seem like one of those trendy Metal bands that a lot of people like just so they seem Metal.
All the poseurs I know like them basically :P.
Really? I've never met ANYONE who like's Amon Amarth or has ever heard of them for that matter.
But I recommended checking them out they really are a great band.

Must you always over react?

I personally like higher production Black Metal becuase I think the music is the best part about BM. On the other hand, low production can be done on purpose to make sound more empty and hollow like Xasthur's Subliminal Genocide the hollow sound really makes it sound dark and depressing, especially on The Prison Of Mirrors.

Wormphlegm's Epejumalat Monet Tesse Muinen Palveltin Lauran Ja Lesse is 30 mins long and I think its great, surprisingly I don't get bored of it (Ok the beginning is boring but whatever).
When I die. It will be in a blaze of glory.
Speaking of shitty production in black metal, I haven't heard a single suicidal black metal that hasn't had me laugh to tears.
RoseSOAS: you should know i dont think this far ahead
Me made simple: well you already thought as far as holding a chicken while in your underwear

There is nothing arty about not being able to use a microphone.
I agree. I can understand with some bands that worked in shitty run down studios and stuff, so it's not their fault, but now they have technology that turns a perfectly fine demo tape into shite quality. Lame.
basic raw production can be excellent and really add to an album, not just in black metal imean look at EVERYTHING steve albini's produced, or the warmth you get from crackly old field recordings of blues guitarists etc. and i fucking hate over production or music that is too polished in general, one of the reasons i cant bring myself to like power metal or a lot of progressive metal. i do draw the line somewhere, to be basic & stripped down is one thing but to be purposefully shitly recorded can sometimes be tedious. even then its all secondary to the music so theres nothing much to worry about.
RZZZZZZ
I've not listened to enough black metal with poor production. Oh well. I'm still willing to find any black metal I'll enjoy, however. :)

Nah, I don't think there's such thing as a best artist/band ever.

Shining and Forgotten Tomb are both pretty well produced.
This signature makes use of various clichés and/or 'emotional' lyrics/quotes, hopefully it makes me appear deep.

I compared their Wolves Of The Sea cover to the original.
The results are lulzworthy.

Wolves of the sea is a dang good song.

Yeah, but my reaction to the original was something along the lines of, 'fahgacchgle'.

Well when I heard the song by Alestorm with no knowledge of an original I did think it was a little different to their norm.
Fuck. Idio was right. Slipknots earlier stuff is actually alright.
?

I got a laugh out of that.
Also I'd say that lesser production quality is not a merit in itself, but it can add some kind of atmosphere. I've heard some pretty menacing bm thats effect seemed to lie partially in the less-than-good quality of production somehow. the fuzziness and muffling effect of it, I guess. Still, I think just about all the black metal I love has good production.

Well, Dopesmoker is over an hour and the whole thing is one track, and the Monolithe albums are all one track. They're all good.
Speaking of Monolithe, there's a new album set to release next month. Anyone who likes funeral doom metal should check out their stuff.

I haven't heard that one, but I have Tomb of the Ancient King. I haven't given it a listen in a long time, though.

When am I ever wrong? Either way, it's far from perfect, but it definitely has a Mr. Bungle type feel to it which I thoroughly enjoy. Of course Slapnuts refuses to play anything remotely resembling anything that is a hearken back to their olden days.
Ah forget Fagknot, what else is new in metal?
Here I am, bored with everything.

Well, I've discovered a Black Metal band from Texas that completely ripped me off.
...About 5 years before I came up with the shit.

It's the first song on that album. It itself is 30 mins the other two are about 13 and 17 mins.

i didn't mention first track of the immortal album being half an hour long because i'm unfamiliar with long song titles; i mentioned it because it's supposed to be 3 minutes, not 30. does anyone know if this is like a special version or something?

I likes teh Doom now :).
New submission. Old Guitar player
I busted my recorder on this one, though. It'll be a minute before I can record again, but hopefully I'll take my income tax money and buy a multitrack, meaner I'll seriously increase my audio quality when I start submitting again.
RIP Tascam stand alone CD burner. You were loved.
This is a song about death. It's on mandolin.
Hate is the first step to all solutions.
You will not end bigotry until you learn to hate it.
Anyone herd Bathory, Good band. They were the first to start viking metal.
also, Amon Amarth used to be grindcore and named Scum? hahahah
I'm fucked up. Haven't slept during the night in over a week. I'd sleep now but if I do this pattern is just going to repeat itself. So its black coffee til I pass out later tonight and Pro-Plus from the shop when I go in a few hours.
I had a five minute conversation with myself in the mirror. This is definately not a healthy way to live.
Oh, and my best friend at uni decided to drop out and go home. So I need to ingratiate myself into the friend groups of the people in my course/the girls in my flat last year.
And the only person I'd want to turn to for comfort doesn't want to know me anymore. Ahh, fantastic :). Isn't life a joy.
That said, I'm cheerful and optimistic... which is something good. Hard ships shall not burden me! Wish I was a self harming emo, that seems to work :(.
Oh, and a local Doom band split up and the vocalist and guitarist posted a thing on this music website saying that they're looking for a drummer/bassist. Now I'm neither (I play bass but I don't want to, and so won't), but I've asked if they're interested in having another guitarist in the fold. Hopefully they'll say yes :).
This is the old band.

Rotting Christ used to be grind, too.
Seeing Psycroptic tonight!
Should be a kickass event.
I'll see if I can get some photos from some friend's as my camera is out of action.
