Protest the hero
Coheed And Cambria
He is legend
killswitch engage
pink floyd

stevie ray vaughan
Judas PriestThese bands are metal, but you need ten metal bands to enter the Hell. To meet this requirement I think you should listen to;
Opeth
Dethklok(lol)
Iron Maiden
metallica
Savatage
3 Inches of Blood
Kalmah
Norther
Angra
Dragonland
Týr
Moonsorrow
Wintersun
tell us which ones you liked after listening, and we can give you more recommendations from there.
also gerard way isn't dead.
3 inches of blood-didnt like the singer
Kalmah-Awesome
Norther-actually already listen to them
Dragonland- Also very good
Tyr-Not usually a fan of metal in other languages but they are good.
Moonsorrow- Im a huge fan of acoustics in metal.(thats why my favorite opeths albums are Blackwater park and watershed)Vocal were a little harsh though.
Wintersun- one of my friends cousin showed me them and they are probably my favorites on this list.
Im a Ghost in the Crowd, a Beacon in the Field
I don't see why Wintersun are bummed as much as they are in this place.
I get bored after a minute of listening to them.

But yeah, they are sort of overrated here but I still like them.
In other news, I terribly spelled 'blasphemy' wrong the other day when I couldn't remeber the spelling, so I copied + pasted my mutilation of the word on google to use its spell check and I got the right spelling.
Apparently, there is a black metal band named blasphemy.
Discuss, I want to know if the band with such a kick ass name is good or bad..

I checked the Metal Archives, and the reviews are pretty positive.
Westwastingtime is in. With some time spent here, he should be able to learn about metal and get into more bands.

It seems you just prefer power metal over prog.
And I don't mean to offend, but I find Sonata Arctica to be pretty boring. I find a lot of power metal to be boring, though. I used to be really into it, but now I just like a handful of power metal bands.
What is it about DT that makes them sooooo good in everybody's eyes?
Images and words
Awake
a Change of Seasons
That's what.
I like them, don't get me wrong, just I think their are so many better bands.
Yeah, I'll agree with you there. And I don't think they're as good as they used to be.

I thought it was pretty clear that Sonata Arctica is power metal. seems obvious to me.

I don't like that idea. This is a place for metal discussion, and letting in just anybody without making sure they actually listen to metal would not be helpful. We may not have that many regulars here, but at least they listen to metal. I like having a place to talk about metal and I don't want to ruin that.

There are gems all the way through DT's career. And that is why they're popular. Cause even when the rest is shit you get a song like Octavarium which makes it all worth it.
And all the members (except James obviously) make people cream with their talent. Except Petrucci.
Who also makes people cream by being a very fine physical specimen.
Well, you've always been wrong, then. ;)
Refer to previous analogy :D.
I don't like that idea. This is a place for metal discussion, and letting in just anybody without making sure they actually listen to metal would not be helpful.
I was exaggerating.
I think we should follow through on Dents idea. If they show a bit of promise, help them out and accept them with open arms.
Unless THEY LIKE SOAD AND METALICA AND MEGADEATH AND RAGE AGAINST MACHINES!
Well, we wouldn't let them in anyway due to the lack of Metal knowledge... but my badly made point is that people who seem intelligent should be favoured upon :). And people who type like fuckwits should be shown the e-door.
Well I sent a email Letter to Revolver Magazine. It was in response to a illiterate fuck who left a letter saying he was a Death metal fan but bitchs about how Belphegor loves Satan and sado and yet he claims to love death metal! Does he not know the history behind death metal.

My brother dislikes the guitar and turns the drums and bass up on all of his music, so I think he's missing a lot of the aggressiveness, ferocity, and drive of metal without the guitar.

He does have an awesome voice, but it really doesn't the heavier stuff they are starting to do.
My 10 bands:
Opeth
Ayreon
Death
Dark Tranquillity
Eluveitie
Finntroll

He misses out on a lot of amazing guitar solos but at the same time he expirences much more drums than you'd expirence listening at normal volume.
Seriously, I noticed this about a month ago but overall not many metal bands emphasize their drums on their albums and they only emphasize the guitar, the vocals, orchestration software and tools for the rich symphonic arrangements in their songs. (The last two are only for some bands.)

They are wooden.

Last time i checked, the bridge, machine heads and strings on every other guitar other then a classical or acoustic guitar were metal. And doesn't Hetfield have a guitar with a Diamond plate mould on it?
Otherwise yes, its made of wood.

Metal isn't all guitar orientated though. I could hate guitar yet still appreciate Metal for the overall sound of the genre. You could appreciate it as a part of the ensemble without liking the instrument.
Though that may be a contradiction.
