same, i usually used it to get a vague sense of how good an album is and what it's strengths and weaknesses are. now i mostly use it to check up on genres and albums and lyrics.

So besides any arguments between Kidd and Ryan, new people asking to join the Metal Hell, news about Metallica's new album (I found out about the album title), what else has happened here? I've been away on holiday for a week and would like to hear if anything special happened while I was gone. I'm afraid I don't feel like checking through all the posts since I last posted here.

Also, I got Judas Priest's Nostradamus today and so far, I'm enjoying it a lot! :D

All of those are good. You should check out Maudlin of the Well. Kayo Dot was formed from the remains of Maudlin of the Well after it split up. It's really good stuff.

hey thanks for the reccondations guys. kekal were innaresting, i listened to a couple of songs from their newest album. verry eclectic style, more prog-metal orientated than i usually go for but its always good to try something different. maudlin of the well are excellent, as expected. the mixture of dynamics between accoustic/jazz with the heavy sections reminds me of islands-era king crimson.

Isis came to my town a couple months ago. i didn't go see them, but I should have gone.

For post-metal, you should check out Cult of Luna and The Ocean. My friend Serena really likes doom, and she got to meet The Ocean and Lair of the Minotaur. I'm so jealous of her and all my friends where she lives, a shit-ton of excellent bands play there.

Its really odd why people hate them. Probably because they havent brought much of anything new to the table with this album. Even so, its still amazing. I liked old tyr and thought their old sound was amazing why am I not going to think the same this second time around?

Sinklars visa has the cool little choir in the beggining that I enjoyed alot. That was a new thing.

Plus they used alot of different melodies in this one. Like the song lokka tattur has a riff in the beggining that is from a traditional lullabie song called "Byssan Lull".

Sinklars visa is a norwegian folk song about a man sailing his ship to norway and being killed along the way.

Its very good I think.

Sinklars Visa though, obviously my favorite song on the album, is about the battle of kringen.

Its when 500 Scotsmen (lol ryan) tried to cross norway to help the swedes fight the Norsemen. They tried to loot farms and stuff on their way and they were beat at Gudbrandsdalen where 370 of them were killed in battle and the rest were executed after wards except for 14 of them.

Pretty hard ass if you ask me.
