I've got Crimson but the fact that it's one long track pisses me off. It's hard for me to listen to it like that, knowing that if I like a certain part of it I won't be able to go back and listen to it again like I could with normal tracks. I'll probably suck it up eventually though and give it a legit listen. My introduction to them and Death Metal in general was Crimson II which is awesome but I haven't listened to it since I lost all of my music a while ago.

But I know they're full of that gay machismo bollocks.

Man I knew Jesu was awesome after listening to Conqueror pretty much on repeat for two weeks but after listening to Silver I'm in fucking love with this band. "Silvers just another gold, when you're bitter and you're old." Fucking brilliant. The Lifeline EP is amazing as well. They've been talked about here before but I'm doing it again. CHECK OUT JESU PEOPLE.

Are they good.

Are you kidding? Yes, they're fucking good. Go watch them, now! Both of them are better than Once Upon a Time in Mexico.

You guys should check out Gonin-Ish. It's a good "extreme" progressive metal band, though the harsh vocals are annoying. The instrumentals and clean vocals are really good. I know the clean vocals are done by a woman, but I'm not sure about the harsh vocals. I think she does them as well, and if she does, that's a surprise because they sound like a dude.

That reminds me of something. In Arkona (the Russian band), are the harsh vocals done by a woman? If so, then....holy damn.

Wrong.
LoG are an awesome metal band.
Listen to any of the songs off of 'Ashes of the Wake'. Excellent album, very metal.
Their new album isn't that bad either, 'Walk With Me In Hell' is a good song.

I had to sit through a Machine Head album from beginning to end. It was quite an unpleasant experience.

What that the 44 track version of the 9 track version?

I don't know which one is better off getting.

On that note, Edge of Sanity recommendations anyone?

I'll get on to that, cheers.

Was it the 40min Crimson song? Because I'm pretty sure Audiosurf has a duration limit on what songs it plays.

Desperado is the sequel to El Mariachi but the main character is different in El Mariachi instead of Antonio Banderas.

Depends what period you like. But Kveldssanger and Shadows of the Sun are good choices.

Hi.

GARBLGARBLGARBL.

I'm finally settled in a home, so I should be posting more regularly now. I'm sure you're all very much excited. At any rate, I'm going to avoid contributing to the conversation and just say that I'm back, and I'll talk more later. Or something like that.

Despite their controversy, I finally finished my Alice in Chains collection. Yay! They're kind of metal. Working on some other stuff, and I might need your help again Sensey, I've been having trouble getting a specific album by Sigh.

Dream Theater and Opeth in two days. Vaguely excited.

Response to Metal Hell 2008-05-20 10:05:51

You're a spoiled cunt, seeing Dream Theater over here costs hundreds of dollars and is an almost once in a lifetime thing. And Opeth are my favoutire fucking band... I would be mega-excited if I were you.

I like Garm's melodic voice... ala The Sham Mirrors.

Seeing as they're my two favourite bands, I too would be excited.

Although when I saw Opeth the other week, the set list was absolutely dire and it just wasn't amazing.
But I had to content myself with the knowledge Arch Enemy were headlining >:(!

Tickets were still expensive, and I'm sure I'm going to be more pumped up about it the day of. I bought the tickets last February and was uber-excited about it then. Now I'm into it but I care more about the logisitics (read: how to get there and how much money I can afford to spend). After I get all that ironed out (which is going just fine by the way) then I'll be very excited. But at this point, its just a minor tingling. Still, we'll have to see.

Besides, Opeth's setlist so far have been pretty damn good, but Dream Theater's have been awful. Lost of new shit I don't care for. I"m hoping because they play NYC twice and I'm going to the second show, they'll get all the shit out of the way early and I'll get some songs off of Images and Worlds or Awake, instead of Systematic or Octavarium. Just saying. I am very much looking forward to Opeth though. I can't wait to hear Heir Apparent live, that's going to be balls-crushing.

Response to Metal Hell 2008-05-20 10:21:37

Opeth are a band where setlists are really important. A bad one could make or break the show.

The DT show I went to had a great set, a lot of Systematic Chaos stuff, but I didn't mind. I even got 2 Awake songs, and only one shitty ToT song.

Metsa, Tama Ikuinen Talvi, Suden Uni, Voimasta Ja Kunniasta, Kivenkantaja, Verisakeet, Havitetty. That's their first 2 demos and all the full-lengths.

Also, I still recommend Shadows of the Sun, as that really showcases Garm's clean mellow vocals. Scratch that other album, is mostly guitar.
