Opeth is overrated.
Seriously.
Or Atleast I think so, I think it's the really stuck up "Virtuoso" type of music, spiritless and boring, but since it's "Complex0r, has teh j4zz 'n' shit" then "YOU CAN'TZ0R AFFORDZ TO ARGUE ABOOT IT"

I really really hate their slow cleanly sung parts, I have nothing against clean singing, but the singer can just be really fucking faggoty vocally.

Like for the beginning of this song.

They do have a pretty Unique sound when It gets heavy, and I like it, I just think that the whole acoustic and clean singing can just be go too far sometimes, and it can really piss me off sometimes, like that song Windowpane.

I don't like that part of Opeth.

Nope, it's not like that at all.

I really really hate their slow cleanly sung parts, I have nothing against clean singing, but the singer can just be really fucking faggoty vocally.

Hahaha, I really like the slow clean parts, they're great.

Like for the beginning of this song.

Well, he's never sung like that before in any other song, but I like that.

I also like playing that acoustic part, it's a great little riff. That whole song is great.

They do have a pretty Unique sound when It gets heavy, and I like it, I just think that the whole acoustic and clean singing can just be go too far sometimes, and it can really piss me off sometimes, like that song Windowpane.

Well Windowpane is from Damnation, and that whole album is slow and soft. They made Damnation and Deliverence at the same time, and when they wrote a slow bit they put it on Damnation, and all the heavy bits they put on Deliverence. It was a pretty meh idea... But by then they had started to go downhill... Their first 2 albums are my favourites.

I don't like that part of Opeth.

All of Opeth is godly, godly, god made godly win and awesome.

I can already tell from the video that this album is going to be St. Anger II, just slightly better. It won't be better than The Black Album.

Yep, you can't get much weaker than those. =P

Thought you guys might really appreciate this pic from my show with Paintribe.

My band Strangled Blue opened, and then me and the band played ambient drumcore during the actually freakshow in the background. I ended up playing for about an hour forty five straight, and that's all double bass and complicated rolls the whole time, never slowing down.

But yeah, this is a pic from my real life. I may be playing with these guys again on June 19 at the Rally Point in Memphis. It's not solid, though. I'll wait for a flyer before I concrete that promise.

BTW, I'll be recording again soon, and I just recently mastered the gravity blast and this new technique called "patina squeal" that so far I've only heard the drummer from The Sleeping People (opening band for Locust: think the Locust only less abrasive and purely instrumental). The patina squeal sounds like the sound effects for CSI, you know, that weird metallic sound.

But yeah, pic.

This was mainly just a tiny chick dragging a skin head around the floor by the hooks in her back while he held on.

I've met her a couple of times, and it's totally a testosterone thing for her. She's tiny, but in that way she's tougher than any football player.

Her exact words were "You think you're tough? I swing around by hooks in my back for fun."

God I hope I get to play with them again....

@Idio: Good to know a quick uninformed Wiki search failed me. Regardless, I realize I need to read up on those genres (generally all those listed as your favorite :P ) because I have no knowledge or interest in them pretty much whatsoever. I still definitely respect them though, musically they're very sound. Maybe some day it will make sense to me.

My favorite genres/sub-genres in some semblance of order: Melodic Death, Death, Black (Melodic Black when I can find it - think Catamenia not Dimmu), Progressive, Avant Garde, Grind/Doom, Folk/Heavy/Old School (Maiden, Priest, whatever), then pretty much everything else - drone/sludge/stoner/thrash. I'll admit I am partial to Kyuss but I do <3 Homme. To the lament of many, that's because QOTSA is one of my favorite bands.

I tend to try out as much as I can, I just feel like I don't fully enjoy or understand everything (yet). Oh well.

Opeth/ Dream Theater show in a week. Excited mostly, just not about the travel. Should be an OK show though.

One of the songs on the new Metallica album is apparently called "Hell and Back". Another one might be called "Suicide".

I'll shut up about it now.

I'd get some new albums, but Master of Illusion left a bad taste in my mouth.

Probably Progressive and Power in general. But I've not listened to either genres in quite a while.
I've been mainly listening to Avant-Garde stuff and Acoustic music (Peeping Tom and Imogen Heap, Newton Faulkner respectively) and film scores.

Opeth is virtuoso :S?
I always consider that to be more Vai, Gilbert. Or Symphony X and Dream Theater in a more Metal context.
Opeth are like, Prog Death + Pink Floyd being depressed.

Its gooooood.

I really really hate their slow cleanly sung parts, I have nothing against clean singing, but the singer can just be really fucking faggoty vocally.

You don't have to be a fan of everything.

Oh and I got a five disc album of 60 years of Disney songs.
You'd love it.

I also got Avril Lavigne's disography.
I highly recommend everyone to download the song 'I Don't Have to Try' and listen to the first 20 seconds or something.
One of the funniest things I've ever heard in my life.
Absolutely ridiculous.

Damnation is a fantastic album.
By thinking this I'm defeating the point of them being a Metal band, but overall its probably my favourite album by them.
Its just great to relax to.

And I recorded a great guitar and bass take for my friend when he did Ending Credits :).

All of Opeth is godly, godly, god made godly win and awesome.

Since when were you an Opeth bummer anyway?
It seems very excessive and out of the blue.
