I still like Power metal better though.
I'm not a huge Black fan myself, But I think power metal can be straight out retarded sometimes.

A good example - Manowar-Blow your speakers

Absolutely fucking horrible. It´s strange how Manowars songs range from shitbogus like that to gold like Guyana.

Hello, people. I was staying at a friend's house and his internet is crap. I kept trying to post while I was over there, but the windows kept closing before I could finish.

Out of the members here, you'd be one of the worst choices for horesman. You wouldn't be the absolute worst, though.

BELIEVE HIM

Yeah, the Sham Mirrors is one of my all time favorite albums, but la Masquerade Infernale is even better. The Chaos Path is probably the best song Arcturus has made.

At 5/2/08 04:28 PM, Hellian00 wrote: Hmm... It's all metal

No, it isn't all metal. In that list, you have half metal, half not metal. And you need 10 metal bands to join. You listed 8. If you still wish to join, please list two more metal bands that you like.

Agreed.

I really think over-the-topness is one of the things that separates metal from core and nu. I mean, death is overly violent, black is overly satanic and kvlt, power is overly epic and ridiculous, and so on.

Nu and core, on the other hand aren't overly anything. Except shitty, of course.

Nu and -core is too restrained.

I prefer the harmonically varied vocal approach to SM :P. Gus has a great voice (Gus is the vocalist right?).
I'll give LMI another listen, being that I'm a much bigger fan of Arcturus now I may appreciate it more.

The vocalist is Kristoffer Rygg (A.K.A Garm, and a bunch of other names) from Ulver, and he does the vocals on every album except for Sideshow Symphonies.

That a really bad observation.

I think Metal is something that sticks with you as you group up, its a more mature form of Heavy music, and in some cases more sophisticated.
Nu-Metal on the otherhand is like something you can appreciate as a teenager but eventually grow out and is forgotten when the next trend comes along.

Look at all the big names in Metal, Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Death, Blind Guardian.
All been going for ages and are still as fresh and interesting as anything (I assume Maiden is interesting for Maiden fans :P).
Whereas once you've realised baggy jeans and bicycle chains aren't the way forward you drop the Slipknot and KoRn shit and listen to Hardcore fags like Bring Me the Horizon and wear skinny jeans and show your arse off.

I only wish leather jackets, demin waistcoats and sewn on patches would fucking die!
Thats the worst thing about Metal... by far.

I got Gus from the G thing he uses sometimes (allegedly).
But I'm sure there is a Gus in Avant-Garde Metal somewhere... or am I just imagining things?

I can't think of any.

I don't think the initial G has any place in Metal to be honest.

I can't think of any.

There is a Gus G. who did some guitar on Gallows Gallery, but I do believe I was just adding a 'us' to Mr Garm.

Speaking of Garm, I just discovered the awesomeness of Vintersorg.

Ok, so that's not really related to Garm in anyway apart from the fact that they both sung in Borknagar, but jesus fucking christ I love Andreas Hedlund.

Vintersorg is godly and fucking hell Otyg is some seriously good shit. I'm still making up my mind about whether to get Borknagar, from what I heard on Youtube they weren't very special... But I remember hearing some stuff from their first album and loving it. Did they start sucking when Vortex joined? Did they get better when Vintersorg joined?

I've never listened to Waterclime.... So basically, recommend me some stuff guys!

I have all Otyg, and i'm contemplating getting all Vintersorg. I should do that right? Is there any other projects he has done? I used to have a Cosmic Death demo but that wasn't very special.

Vintersorg is turning me into a screaming preteen girl, it's hard not to just give in to the urges and scream I love Vintersorg over and over again.

DO IT DO IT DO IT

I prefer Vintersorg back when he was progressive folk/viking, rather than straight up progressive. Get Till Fjalls and Cosmic Genesis before anything, I'd say.
