And if you want to get technical, Belphegor is blackened death metal
Are you trying to join? If so, state at least ten metal bands that you listen to and a horseman will let you in.

Yes, they are quite good.
But when I saw them live last year, they really sucked. They put no emotion into it at all.
They didn't talk to the audience or do anything memorable really.
This signature makes use of various clichés and/or 'emotional' lyrics/quotes, hopefully it makes me appear deep.
I know you guys basically cream your pants when you hear black metal, so i thought here would be a good place to ask this.
Can someone translate this song name for me?
Ein Eim Av Blod Og Helvetesild. <-- It's by Gorgoroth if it helps anyone.

Not your personal army. Google it, or ask a Norwegian. In fact, most people in here don't love black metal anyway...

Right now I'm enjoying some DevilDriver although I didn't like their new album The Last Kind Words as much as The Fury of Our Maker's Hand.
Hold Back the Day is my favorite song from DevilDriver overall followed by I Dreamed I Died from their self titled album.

Well it's melodic death metal, not really metalcore.
It's close but I think they have more death metal like vocals and less punk sound associated with metalcore.

Yeah, the vocals are more or less what makes it sound like death metal, but the music, i don't know really...

And I'm listening to Stratovarius - Dreamspace, which I finally got off an Amazon seller (I said a while ago here about what happened to me with getting a completely different CD). I find the album very good. :)

depends which stuff you are listening to, according to metal archives "Only accepted into the archives, because the newest full-length (2007) is considered to be metal." so the rest is metalcore, not that it really matters anyway

All Stratovarius is good. Get Destiny, Elements Pt 1 and 2, and Visions.

Also a plug for my friend. He's attempting comedy Death Metal after doing ambient and progressive.
Bludgeoning Soul Rape and Oprah's Divinity.
Be helpful to know what you guys think.

I personally can't see the comedy behind it, but i like the music. Good stuff.

Well it's more of a strange humor, Bludgeoning Soul Rape being about raping someone's soul and Oprah's Divinity is about Oprah Winfrey being the "Ruler Of The Universe" and causing an eternal Holocaust.
He adds in demented lyrics to make it sound more serious.
What is the difference between death metal and black metal?

But potentially a good thing. The only 'deth guitarist I've ever rated has been Freidman, and Broderick is better in my opinion, so no cocking up Marty's solos live... having to avoid difficult bits and such.

And is the Progressive Nation tour the bastarding one with Opeth and Dream Theater? The one that unfortunately for me isn't coming to the UK :(.

I thought the same. Nothing impressive, just sounded like a crap version of the studio songs to me.

Yeah, Progressive Nation is Dream Theater, Opeth, Three, and Between the Buried and Me. Great fucking lineup. I did some research, and the Progressive Nation tour kicks off just after the UK tour ends. Go, though, the UK lineup isn't half bad either. Should be awesome.
