I don't have too high a hope for Beowulf. CG or not, I think it will either be great or tank miserably. The acting talent is there, but I know so little about the director or producer that its hard for me to be enthusiastic. It isn't like Peter Jackson is making this film.
Sweeney Todd, on the other hand, I am excited about. No matter what the damn pureist say, I think that movie is going to rock some socks. If you don't know about it, it is possibly one of the coolest musicals ever.
Also, Spartans weren't that weak at all. As a fan of mythology in general (though I do prefer Norse mythology, Greek, and Roman by extension, is also fascinating because of its pertinence throughout history) you can't hate on the Greek and Italian mythology. Spartans trained hard and were very good at killing. You have to respect that.

What I would actually like to see is a good stereotypical Viking movie in this age. Like these 10 foot blonde and red headed muscular beasts with axes that could chop a house in half, all rowing on a boat to go fight an epic fucking battle against some other force, or to just brutally rape and pillage.

What we need is an example of what happened when the Vikings landed in Ireland, wanted to sex up the Celtic women and prove how weak the men were. However, this ended in the Viking women being raped and having their tounges cut out. (That last bit actually happened to the Roman women in Gaul) Axes and swords are thrown at the Celts, impale them, and are thrown back at the Vikings (again, that last bit actually happened when the Celts fought the Greeks)
And you know what? Historical accuracy be damned. (For example, the Vikings never engaged the Celts on a full scale conflict, just a few costal battles here and there, and the fact that Women were never taken on Longboats)
Somwthing that shows the ferocity of the (severely underrated) Celts. With a Mael Mórdha and Waylander soundtrack to metal things up a bit.

I know of plenty of viking-related music, but I don't know of too many viking-realted movies. There was the 13th Warrior (which was awesome) and Pathfinder and....uh...hmm....
