That's because those are games which require the Unity Webplayer plugin in order to work.

If you don't have that plugin (for example, it doesn't exist for your system or you can't get the thing installed) you will instead get that error message.

Personally I think they should force all the games that require that plugin to convert to HTML5 format as Unity allows you to export to this format anyway. There is no good reason to force usage of the Unity Webplayer plugin.

There are several more games which also are like that.

I 100% agree with you. All of those games should be be converted. That way everybody has a fair and equal chance to play them and earn the medals.

There are several more games which also are like that.

A list could be made. That way they could all be converted at once. Would make it easier that way.

I mean, not like I haven't asked for games to be searchable based on platform (Flash, HTML5, Unity Webplayer) at various times in the past, and no one ever implemented that.

It's going to be very difficult for anyone other than staff to make such a list comprehensive. It would not have been difficult for staff to implement my suggestion of allowing sorting options based on platform back at the time I suggested that. In fact it would have been trivially easy for them to do this back then but they did not.

At present it may even be difficult for staff to find this information easily, short of running some script for hours or days going through *all* the submissions and flagging the ones using Unity Webplayer.

All I can do is give good advice. I can't make people take that advice.

All medals except the secret medal are broken for me because the game literally freezes whenever the timer runs out, on both Firefox and Chrome. Can anyone play this without that happening?

Because of this, Highest Score, Max Height, Games Played, and Points Scored are permanently stuck at 0. Max Combo is permanently stuck at 1. Scoring Average is permanently stuck at nothing displayed at all. The only stat that increases is Baskets Scored, but no medals use that stat.

Since all other medals except the secret medal require that the game not freeze on you once the timer expires, they're all broken.

"Master Ball" (complete level 8) seems to be broken, I completed level 8 and the author is the only person to ever earn it. (Also "Pokemon Master" awards to everyone, but I won't complain about a free 100 points.)

Also this game has had broken medals for way too long. Literally years!

How can most of those be proven to be broken when they are mostly secret medals? Because of the youtube walkthrough where someone earns all those medals of course! The walkthrough linked in the author comments for the game itself. The only medal in question is Rick Roll'd as it's not featured in the walkthrough, but the only earns are pre-2014, and sometime in 2014 or possibly 2013 is when all those other medals break. We can be reasonably sure Rick Roll'd is probably broken too or at least a good chance it's broken given the extent of medal breakage in this game.

So you can do the same things to earn the medals and no medals. If I was to guess probably the author broke those medals in one of the several updates to the game, so the only people having those medals would be early earners back in 2013 or earlier only! Note there are a couple of documented edits to the game in 2013 and then several edits in 2014 so most likely one or more of the 2014 edits broke the medals.

Yeah usually it's better to wait a while before reporting. Very frequently new games will have broken medals for a week or sometimes a month or so before they naturally get fixed and the developer is already aware and working to fix them.

I would say it's probably best not to list games that are just brand spanking new.

Instead PM the developer in those cases.

Once you complete 5 levels, rather than award a medal the game freezes. This is the first medal in the game. Also if you replay it after that freezing, you get awful sound from your speakers and black screen unless you clear cache.

I think cases like this are when games are using Nutcasenightmare's javascript port of our original API. It depends on a third party server that only allows so many free requests per month, at which point the requests stop working. It would be ideal to get all these games ported over to newgrounds.io but that is unlikely.

Refreshing the subject of this game: I earned the medal for finishing 5 levels 3 years ago, today I finished level 11, but when I reached the green square the level did not end and the medal did not pop up. Instead the game froze and now it became unplayable for me since even in the insecure view the game is loading, but is failing to start.

One thing I've been noticing lately is the Newgrounds medals connection has been behaving extra buggy. There's been quite a few games where, if I let it load then play the game, no medals, but if I reload the page after that and replay, then I can obtain medals.

So really you almost have to let a game load to 100%, then reload the page, *then* actually play the game or the Newgrounds medals connection is just acting way too flaky if you don't. Anyone else noticing this as of late?

Certainly won't help in cases of games where the medals fully are broken, but may help avoid some unnecessary annoying replaying to an extent.

Certainly not as much of an issue in the games which let you resubmit medals, but unfortunately there are plenty of games which don't and many of those where you'd need to clear cache to try again.

Yes, it can be a pain. Some games I have to reload three times just to play it.

Well they're all broken in the sense none of them are obtainable and they're all phantom medals.

The two assumptions we could make are that a person cheated or that they were medals which used to exist, were removed, but for some reason were not removed from that person's medals points. I'm going to give benefit of the doubt and go with that second option.

This still makes them phantom medals which shouldn't be there though. And he's not the only one with phantom medals, but certainly the highest ranking and the person with probably the most phantom medals.

Can confirm. I think this is one of those cases where it just needs to be set to HTTP.

Yes your link is http but as soon as you click it you go to the https. Reason is you earn a medal upon completing stage one, and it's a common feature of those games that need to be set to HTTP that upon earning a medal the game just freezes. Also especially when it's not a Flash game and that's not a Flash game.

Yeah, it is a problem recently. I'm trying to get in touch with as many of these authors as it is possible and urge them to submit games only with working medals. For example RiceGames promised to make the medals work, I hope they will succeed.

The ones you mentioned aren't worth 0 points, but they are currently displayed like this until they are unlocked by someone or tested by the author. Of course if they are working.

About the system you proposed: it would be a bit problematic to implement since there is no automated way to determine which game is in beta and which one is a completed work, so everything would have to be done manually. And since there is no way to "hide" a game from being included on the "games with medals" list the only way to make it happen would be removing the new medals at sight. But if the authors would fix them there currently would be no way to bring them back because of one system problem I mentioned in this thread here.

Another update on the Swapblocks game: I entered it today and tried to load my save from Firefox; the game loaded and because of some weird glitch it gave me all the medals at once. To make it even more weird when I pressed continue I entered an empty stage with the level number of 1532... I reset the whole progress and the game started to work in a normal way, but - I removed all the medals I did not deserve yet - it was not giving me new medals. Then I started the game from scratch on Chrome and this time both the game and medals seem to be working fine.
