The funny thing is, the death of Rock and Roll came when Nirvana hit the scene (early 90's). No offense NirvanaNerd, but the great stuff like Motley Crue and Guns N Roses were the end of something great. All they sang about was boozin, kickin ass, fast cars, bangin chicks, long hair and breakin shit. Then when Nirvana and all that grunge came about, it was all gloomy, depressing, I hate my parents, let's slit our wrists kinda stuff. That's when I knew there isn't gonna be anything good for a long long time, and there still isn't. So that's why I stick with the best. Hair and metal was the last of Rock and Roll, and it hasn't been the same ever since.

Good point. I see where your coming from.

I don't know if its their songs that made them so great(even though i like them). Its what they usherd in...a new era. A lot of the rock bands today might not be here if it was'nt for Nirvana.

I dont know how much goth rock was influenced by them, i mean look at the misfits. people consider them punk, but...well...look at them for christ sakes. They were rocking before Nirvana.

I like Nirvana because Kurt was for the music. It was His gateway (along with many drugs). He put so much Emotion into his songs that it makes me relieze how much he must have ment to many people in the world. He had to touch them.

I love some hair band stuff myself, and i think songs that are not are better too.

...but i hate the darkness.

Yeah, well the death of Hair Metal was when Nirvana came. But yeah you are right I guess in a way. Grunge was a new type of music. A mix of punk rock, with Rock, and pop. Kurt did put alot of emotion into his lyrics, and is a great songwriter. To tell you the truth, no offense though but I dont like Hair metal at all. Bands like Poison I think ruin rock. But bands like GNR aren't so bad. They had good music but Axl was a asshole. By the way: That Rob Zombie movie is awesome!

True

I agree. Drugs were huge with him and his music, like alot of rock, but the way he did it, it just didn't appeal to me. Alot of people love that man, and it sucks for them that they can't see him anymore. And I wonder how they feel about that skank Courtney.

I love some hair band stuff myself, and i think songs that are not are better too.

Cool.

...but i hate the darkness.

Same here. They're just trying to be someone great, but they're not.

I can see what you're saying about Poison, for they were the most "pop" out of all the Hair bands, but I love em.

GNR rocks, and it's a shame Axl is the way he is. He doesn't have to be that way.

yeah, I used to love GNR Alot.. I still like them. Thier guitarist Slash is really good. But Axl was such a asshole to Kurt. And Axl in my opinion is not the kind of person I like. But still , good music. The Smashing Pumpkins and the Doors, and also really good . Jim Morrison was a heavy drug user.. as alot of rock stars unfortunaly :(

Are you comparing the Darkness to Motley Crue and G'n'R? If so, shame on you. SHAME!

So... does anybody here like the band Cream? They're like Led Zeppelin and the Who and those sort of bands, 70's rock bands. Anyone who doesn't know 'em but is interested should listen to the song "White Room". It's an awesome song.

Motley Crue and GNR kick so much ass, no one can compare to them. Don't get me wrong, there are other really kick ass bands that are in the highest rankings of kickass as Crue, but I haven't seen anything good since Hair and Metal died.

Response to Rock Music Club.. 2004-03-29 15:38:59

I think music has been better without hair metal. GNR were great yeah, but Poison sucked. Motley Crue were ok in my opinion just not my type of music. Hair Metal died when "Grunge" became popular and when grunge because popular that sucked.. they started to make grunge wear and that's the stupidest thing.

I see what you're saying. I say the same, but about Nirvana. They started a new thing and everyone started loving it. I guess all good things must come to an end. But grunge is definently not my type of music.

Hair Metal died when "Grunge" became popular

I know. It was a sad day in America when that happened.
