This definitely wouldn't have fit into the List Notes very well, so I decided to post it as an addendum. Below are the lines of the 32 new members of the top 1000 VP list that joined SK's list between his last 2004 update (December 12th) and his first 2005 update (January 23rd).

As you can see, no one got all that close to making the top 500 VP list without me noticing. The highest was Filch at #729 with 6.98 VP. Not a bad jump into the top 1000, but not QUITE high enough to land him the top 500 in stealth mode. Here's his line and the other 31 peoples:

There was ONE weird thing I noticed while comparing SK's 1/23/2005 top 1000 id# list to my 1/22/2005 top 1000 id# list: his actual HTML list had livecorpse at #500... whereas I had him at #501 (right off the top 500 last weekend). This is, no doubt, due to the different ways we sort our lists: SK calculates VP to 4 digits now using exp + HT's exp + b/p rank info.... and I just break ties by ID#. So okay.

But the weird part was... while running windiff.exe and comparing the two text files, livecorpse's ID# showed up in line 501 for BOTH files... I have no idea how that happened. As #1000 and #1 seem right. Somewhere along the line, a line got swapped or something... I just hope no one that snuck into the top 1000 somehow got slipped off the list SK gave me and someone else was put on in place... that seems highly unlikely, but you never know. I'll be extra careful while adding new top 1000ers this coming week after SK's update later tonight... I guess that'll have to do. Fortunately, the color codes will be back on the top 1000 HTML list so... it'll be easy enough to see who's ranked up to get onto the top 1000... and who's deposited their way on. And I'll just have to watch the rankups in the 500-1000 zone for the next few weeks to catch any fastmovers who may have been missed... but hopefully none were. Example: Filch. #;-}>

vagrant2 would be one of them but I know how much you don't care about users (or should I say alt account) without a profile. The only reason that would change your mind is probably a vp ranking without a top50 vp (so your list wouldn't disappear) because your list might have a few holes (shak3s, vagrant2, mfazoom, ???, etc.). Correct me if I'm wrong :)

When I talk about someone sneaking onto the top 500 during the time SK wasn't making weekly NGTL updates, I'm speaking about people with profiles. I don't care about people without profiles for the purposes of this list (except that I hope that they will one day all make profiles, basically).

The official NG VP list should take care of the vagrants, as they will be ranked whether they like it or not then. MWAHAHA.

You may or may not have realised it, but you and the person behind you this update (ahead of you last update) keep swapping places each update due to ID# tiebreakers that HE keeps winning. But the point is that you and he just keep swapping spots and no one else is passing you (or getting passed by you, either, but that's okay for now). You're stable in the 90s on the list right now.

Don't always assume that just because the list hasn't been posted yet... that it isn't being worked upon. The same holds true for Dogma's list, I might add. Often her data pull happens hours and hours before the list announcements are made (though parts of the list are available if you know the date to type into the URL slot). The same sort of thing happened today. I ran the data and left for awhile to do shit while the data was being auto-pulled, and when I got back I did the list update, so it was a bit delayed.

Okay, all the catch-up is done. YAY!

bleh, I think that it's better than nobody deposits for an inactive user, especially if he never comes back. It gives the chance to another user who is still active to gain a few ranks because he's still dedicated. Depositing for someone else is lame because the other user didn't really earn these pts. I could keep ranting about that subject during the whole week but I think that's enough for this moment.

Well i am defiently working on it. Currently i am 6.27 VP Not alot, but it has gon up that .27 in just the short weeks i have been here. So i think i am making average-good progress. No thank you, it would take another hour or so. And I'm also not going to change just the data on ONE person's line. That's unfair to other people. What if others down in the 100-500 range got rankups, or what if someone JUST entered the top 500, but it was after I pulled the data but before I ended up updating your line... they'd have been unfairly kept off the list for a whole week despite the fact that I'd just given ANOTHER user (you) a special favour!

Don't always assume that just because the list hasn't been posted yet... that it isn't being worked upon. The same holds true for Dogma's list, I might add. Often her data pull happens hours and hours before the list announcements are made (though parts of the list are available if you know the date to type into the URL slot). The same sort of thing happened today. I ran the data and left for awhile to do shit while the data was being auto-pulled, and when I got back I did the list update, so it was a bit delayed.

yeah i know. and i know making and updating lists can take a lot of time. i 've done it myself a couple of times. but next week, i won't get the #25 spot because thisisasignin gains .02 vp a week where i only get .01. ah well no big deal, i'll get it next rank up ;)

Jesus. Chunky is #201? Back when I was depositing for that account for Bedn (9-10 months ago), Chunky was like #70 or so on this list. Wowza.

He was stuck at 12600 exp pts for a long while and then he decided to deposit once before going back to his inactive state.
mmmm? Is there a special story concerning that account? There are a lot of rumors going on about some old accounts. heh, I know nothing about most of the old users that used to be popular and more active.

Bedn claimed that Chunky gave him his account (others have speculated that Bedn stole it). Either way, Bedn asked me to deposit for it almost a year ago, and I did for a month or two. Then Bedn started fooling around with it on the BBS and changed the password (after I'd gotten it up from level 23 to THE HOLY LEVEL 24, I might add)... so, there ya go. A few weeks later, the name of the account changed to ChunkyMan and a profile message popped up that he didn't know what had gone on with his account and yadda yadda yadda, which certainly made it seem like Bedn may have indeed stolen it. Eh, wotevah. I have no idea if the current password-holder of that account is the original account-maker or not. It ain't my concern now, and it never was.

bleh, I think that it's better than nobody deposits for an inactive user, especially if he never comes back. It gives the chance to another user who is still active to gain a few ranks because he's still dedicated. Depositing for someone else is lame because the other user didn't really earn these pts. I could keep ranting about that subject during the whole week but I think that's enough for this moment.

Well, there's nothing wrong with someone depositing for a user who's just away for a weekend or a week or something, right? But yes, it is kinda weird to deposit for people who never end up coming back. But plenty of accounts get given away to other people. I know of one account that's been held by at least 5 people (if not more), so... is it wrong for the new owner to deposit and build his exp upon the exp someone else (or someoneS else) collected? Maybe, maybe not. Morally vs. rules-wise... though... is a separate issue. There's nothing in the rules about it, so it's just the topic for an ethical debate, I suppose.

Well, I suppose since his exp amount is a bit lower, he can pass Denvish due to that... but that's only if it takes Denvish quite awhile to get to EGSC. And knowing Denvish, do you think that will happen? Personally, I doubt it. So... yeah. It's going to take another route for MPA to hit the top 50.

You'll soon be within 1.00 of the top 500, so... that ain't so bad, as long as you continue to get those b/p, man. And yeah, I'd think that pre-2006 is a good goal. You can definitely do that, if you put your mind and effort and so forth to it.

It took longer than usual last week because my cable connection was acting up and I had to use dial-up to pull the data (fortunately that's not a problem today, it's working fine). So, IOW, it took quite a long time to pull the 1300+ profiles for the VP list, and there was no way I was going to pull them all again. #;-}>

Anyway, the week is done and now arrives the day which you will be seeing the effect of that rankup at long last, so... there ya go. Oh, and as for the #25 stuff. Yeah, I noticed that. But in actuality, you would have been behind thisisasignin LAST week as well, if we were talking actual VP amount (I believe that showed up on SK's update the very next day) to more than 2 digits. On THIS list, you would have been tied with him and you would have won that tiebreaker based on sign-up date. So it woulda been a weird sorta quasi-25th-spot anyway. Man, i hope i make it onto this list soon, i think its one of the few im not on. Everytime i manage to get the required VP, it moves up, haha. So lets hope this time, it doesnt jump to 7.37, and i will be merry and drunk :)
