To be honest, I am not a big fan of the list. Like you have said, the list is too dependent on exp points. Say that a user who signed in late 2005 has ranked up to EGSC, but he still will not make it on the list even if he did deposit every day. As for the top 300 b/p list, at least you can work your ass off and pass people regardless your exp llevel. Well, lets take things in context here - I'm a level 17 user, who is ranked in the top 380 for experience. There are a good 100 users above me who are inactive in depositing and a further 100 of those at least who don't B/P.

It is, has been and will always be a list of the best ranked (on average) for B/P and experience. I'm currently #371 for Experience and #134 for B/P. Both of these will continue to rise, as I continue to deposit and B/P

All you can really do is deposit daily and eventually, you'll be as high as someone like me and beyond.

Anyone who is ahead of you in experience points is always a threat of passing you in Voting Power... so it's best to just keep depositing everyday..... we have these posts all the time guys. :P

The past month i've gained ground on _altr_ due to him missing some deposits.

I still have a chance of passing Nemesis because that user never reached EGSC yet.

I suck at interviews.

Like Yoink said, this topic is nothing new.

And it's nothing wrong with the list, BTW. It's how the VP system was designed and how it's been for years.

Exp is the main stat on NG. It should come as no surprise that exp is actually far more important than b/p when it comes to VP. That's just the way it is.

You can get all the b/p you want, but you'd better be depositing a ton of exp along with it or you're screwed. Meanwhile, if you're freakin' Pimp, you can ignore b/ping and not suffer too badly.

And most importantly, you can always change your mind about not getting b/p, suddenly start getting it, and wipe out every single person above you in VP.

You can't EVER do that if you ignore exp.

b/p is safer to ignore for a year or two or more... you can always make it up.

Per the current system. We'll see if that ever changes.

Well, tonight's deposit boosted me up from 12.87 to 12.88... I haven't been tracking my own VP progress on a day to day basis since New Year's Day, though...

of course, I could also look at NG Log, since I do use that every day now instead of self-tracking with text files.

But I'm too lazy.

You'll get them, just keep plugging away. Sure, you'll lose places when people like me rank up, but there are users above you who don't deposit experience, who you pass on a daily basis. Some of those are also top VPers.

BTW, after I posted in here on Friday morning, I checked out my own base VP later that day and was kinda surprised it was over 8.00. I was in the 7.xxs for soooooooooooo damned long, and I only hit 8.00 in February of this year, which was after I stopped really paying attention to my stats on a daily basis back at the end of 2006, so... heh.

Well, what I meant is that if you're intently trying to get every single blam and save on the portal to do some crazy-ass star pace on the EGRL or something, and you don't pay attention to your stats like crazy... you may very well slip and fail at it.

Whereas you can't possibly fail at leveling up as long as you deposit every day, even if you don't pay attention to how much exp it is to the next level (like me... I stopped doing that months ago, whereas I used to pay attention to it every single day... for three accounts, no less!).

Sure, VP takes a long time, but... I just made it from 12.88 to 12.90 in... what, 2 weeks?

I should get to 13.00 in 10 weeks or so... which... well, I guess that's getting close to 3 months.

And besides, for all I know I was really watching myself go from 12.8875 to 12.9025, which is really just a 0.15 increase, not a full 0.2 increase...
