Malkin's out for 2-3 weeks.

How bout them Avs! Holy shit, I haven't love a start of the season more since the last time we won a Stanley Cup.

I just can't shake off that feeling that we might take a plummet sometime soon... But I am definitely ecstatic of the way we are playing. I mean comeback, after comeback, after comeback. This team is just gaining more and more confidence. On the road too damn it!

Craig Anderson is a God.

IF he keeps it up he will shatter the wins in a season record.

At this rate, we don't need Budaj, just make him play every damn game.

Grumble grumble. Can't win em all I guess. Better luck against the Canucks hopefully.

We haven't had a start to a season like this since we've been the Avs. That could bode well for the rest of the year. Lost last night to San Jose, but we're still here and still a threat with this young team.

You're getting ahead of yourself again. We will win more games than last season, that's not guaranteed, but you've got to feel positive about the steps that this very young team and young coach have made.

Lost to Vancouver as well, but we pwned Phoenix last night, so we're still looking good. Budaj looked good too for his first start of the year. Only let 1 by him.

Of course I feel positive, but deep down, every true fan wants to go undefeated 30 years in a row. :P I'm stoked about this year, but a loss is a loss, and they hurt just the same. I'm not being ungrateful. Haha. Leaps and bounds ahead of what I expected us to be.

14. Toronto 13 7
15. Carolina 14 7

THATS RIGHT. We passed someone in the standings.

Tied for 29th, beats 30th.

That sums up my season for the Fantasy Hockey at present. I'm stuck to the bottom of the league and only Cam Ward is a regular starting Goalie for me. Perhaps I should release the whole team and start again, with a class of rookies.

2-2 so far this month, 2-3 if you count the game before it. Definitely hit a cold streak. It could be a lot worse though. We've got Chicago tonight. Growing up in Illinois and liking the Avs, the Blackhawk/Av rivalry is by far the most passionate one for me, even over the Devils and Red Wings. Nothing makes me happier than beating Chicago. :P We did it last week, and hopefully we can take a win tonight and carry some momentum out of it. We've looked sloppy as of late. Still got the division lead though, so there's not to much to complain about.

I know what you mean Canas. The Avs got beat 8-2 in Denver the other night, and the crowd didn't make a noise the whole time they were going down. No trying to motivate the team, nothing. They just sat there and watched us get slaughtered. We've lost 5 of the last 7 now. The fuck.

For real Bettman is a fucking failure. He seems not to know anything about anything, least of all hockey, and second least of all the business of hockey.

I can't remember the actual specifics of the statistic, but I read something along the lines of: the Winnipeg Jets didn't lose as much money, their whole stay in the NHL, as Phoenix has lost in the last couple of seasons. What a fucking genius move that was. Let's put a winter sport franchise... that requires ice... in the FUCKING DESERT.

And if he actually goes through with his plan to move a team to Las Vegas.... so help me fucking god.

Would you object if Phoenix moved to Vegas? Since you're moving from a desert to a desert, we might as well make it a like-for-like deal.

What would you call them? You can't use the Kings, since they're already in LA. What else is Vegas famous for, besides Elvis impersonators and Burlesque performers. I'm sure the Vegas Strippers would go down a treat.

Streaks come and streaks go - don't delude yourself by thinking that our fast start this season made us Stanley Cup contenders. It doesn't rule out a chance at lifting the cup at the end of the year, but we're dark horses.

We've got to compete with Rookie of the Year candidate in James van Riemsdyk and the Flyers this evening. Should be an interesting tilt, as the Flyers are 12-7-1 against out 13-7-3

Also, what about Gaborik and Stamkos? Stamkos is on a tear at the moment and both of these guys look capable of beating their career bests for Goals Scored.

Should be great fun to see if they actually do that.

How about you take your time and stop spamming? We don't need this thread to devolve into some sort of chat room, where every 2 minutes, you come along, spouting drivel.

Also, Craig Anderson looks like Bargain of the year,a s he shuts out the Lightning 3-0 and boy did Kyle Quincey dump Steven Stamkos into the Lightning bench!

Matt Duchene's first multi-goal game as well. The second one showed some really deft hands as well. Great stuff.

The Vokoun thing was funny, and it was sort of lucky for the Capitals because it really overshadowed the Ovechkin hit on a lot of the highlight reels i saw.

Though I'm sure it will inspire an entertaining rant by Don Cherry on Saturday night, possibly including the words: "shenanigans, buffoonery, clown/goon, or THAT'S NOT HOCKEY!" Also, something along the lines of "Ovie I love you, and everything, but you gotta stop this foolishness"

Might be worth a chuckle.

I was also entertained by: how after Montreal pulled out all the stops for their centennial game; with endless pre-game hoop-la and such, celebrating how the Canadiens are the be-all-and-end-all of hockey, they ended up getting shut out by a 3rd string goalie, on one of the worst teams in the league.

Don't get me started.

Anyways, I'd feel pretty shitty right now if I were Keith Ballard. He must of blacked out with rage if he didn't even noticed his stick clipped Tomas Vokoun in the head. The bad part was he too a backswing at the post and still didn't notice Vokoun crumple to the ice.

Boneheaded play of the year, 2009. I think there may well be fans wearing helmets in the crowd for the Avs game tonight, as they don't want Keith Ballard to go postal and start indiscriminantly whacking his teammates.

Got to feel for the Panthers, losing Anderson to Free Agency and then getting Vokoun bashed up in those circumstances.

Gotta agree. You double and tripled posted on this page alone. Combine your posts.

Bargain or no, I'm starting to really like the guy. He's been playing pretty consistently and it looks like he's got the makings of a franchise goalie. God it'd be nice if he could play at this level for a few years for us.

Matt Duchene's first multi-goal game as well. The second one showed some really deft hands as well. Great stuff.

Gotta love the young talent on the team. Ryan O'Reilly is even leading the team in +/- at the moment at 18 years old. He's evolving into a great defenseman at his age. Bright future. I'm looking forward to tonight though. I wonder how Anderson is gonna do against his old team. I'll be watching for sure.

Oh yeah. He's going to mature with the team. If the younger members can step it up while some injuries hurt us, we'll be in good shape. Not bad for a rebuild.

And he did it again last night. Good to see that we played with such spirit, scoring two late goals, to at least get a point out of the contest. Too bad that Stephen Weiss stole the show.

Ryan O'Reilly is even leading the team in +/- at the moment at 18 years old. He's evolving into a great defenseman at his age.

Ryan O'Reilly isn't a very good Defenseman. I'm much preferring how he plays as a Center :P

Bright future. I'm looking forward to tonight though. I wonder how Anderson is gonna do against his old team. I'll be watching for sure.

Shame, but you've got to think that we may have done better if Anderson hadn't got knocked out of the game by Keith "I hate Goalies" Ballard. I just hope it's nothing serious.

Now for a really stern test in Pittsburgh.

Consistency? What the hell are you talking about? Yea he was consistent for the first 15 games or so he played in, now he's been as up and down as your mouth on my dick. If he can get back to what he was doing at the beginning of the year I'll be much happier. Also what's up with not finishing what you started? I mean crap 6 losses in overtime? Yea it's still a point, but fucksakes, you only need to put the puck in the goal once, or a few times in overtime...

Yea that's definitely something we have to look forward to, good young talent. Reminds me of when we had Chris Drury and Alex Tanguay. Then we decided to keep our top stars to forsake the future... at least now they are pretty much the only building blocks we have, so we can focus around them rather than old veterans that don't produce (can somebody remember the Teemu Selanne/Paul Kariya 2003 season of disaster).

It's hard being a Habs fan these days.

I grew up watching them as a kid RIGHT after they won their last cup in '93, so basically I've been a fan during the crappiest 15 years this team has had. The underdog stanley cup runs were fun, especially embarrassing Boston a few times, and being 1st not long ago ( then didn't show it in the playoffs) but that's not much for such a long period of time.

As much as I hate the Leafs, I feel bad for them...well their fans, not the shitty owners. The Habs and Leafs are always so pressured to ice winning teams in the present, that they don't build for the future as well as other teams. Look at Chicago now compared to a few years ago, and they've just re-signed three young stars to long contracts and will be contenders for at least 5 years. We're consistently mediocre, and the players are scared to come to these cities cause there's so much pressure on them, leaving us with players with big egos, stars past their prime, and overpriced contracts.

The French media here in Montreal drives me crazy with this bullshit of having french speaking players and coaches. How about we just take the best hockey players and coaches and win? Damn government has all the french population scared that their going to lose their precious "heritage" and shit. It's a god damn hockey team, not a political party.

I just wish people would shut up and let the teams actually rebuild. Just suck it up for a few fucking years and give them time to actually make a team. Stop calling for heads everytime there's a losing streak. It's sports, it happens, get over it. Then you'll have a good and contending team for years, instead of okay teams hoping to squeeze into the playoffs forever.
