I ran into an issue with the tool today. I couldn't get it to run despite some debugging. It's possible I might just need to try again later, but I also reached out to @DiMono just in case. Hopefully they still use Skype.
By the way, the last column is your medal gain compared to the current leader, your actual gain is the first column.
For tracking, as of today there are 940 new points and the last counted game is EEEE (6 new games). However, it looks like "slow drown" was removed, not sure how many points that was.

If it can be of any help, I tried running the NGMedals program (https://bobogoobo.newgrounds.com/news/post/832879) but after like 1/2 hour of slow progress it showed an error. I don't know if it could be related or a different problem, as this is the first time I've ran the program since late 2019.

The leaderboard tool should be able to handle errors like that since I've updated it more recently, and the one it's giving me seems like either an issue with the site or potentially something in the code that it doesn't like. But there haven't been any changes recently that should affect it.
I was working on updating NGMedals, because it doesn't work correctly at the moment in addition to those errors, but haven't been able to get back to it. It will still be pretty slow though because of how many medal games there are now.

I made the medal tracking tool back in 2010 (it first ran on May 16, 2010 at about 2am EST), with no eye at all for scalability. It works by scraping the webpages for everyone listed on it and adding up all the medals they've gotten. More people + more games = it's a wonder this thing hasn't burned down the server farm already.
The error it's throwing is a server-level error, which suggests to me that the scraping is having issues. This isn't something I can easily test for, and there's no error being logged anywhere that I can find. Even if I knew exactly what the problem was, the simple truth is that I'm way too busy right now to fix it.
I think the best and correct way forward here is to convince Tom and Wade to add something official to the website, so that my janky third-party tool can be phased out and abandoned. It did its job a decade ago, and it's probably time to let it sleep with a pillow being placed forcefully upon its face.
That being said, it costs me nothing to leave it as-is, so it's not like I'm going to take it down. Hopefully the problem will resolve itself and the tool will continue working. But it really does need to be replaced, and that replacement should be something official, not third-party.

I will try to do some testing to see if I can pinpoint where the issue may be. Hopefully I can revive the tool when I get time to dig into the error it's running into (or if it fixes itself), while we wait for better on-site tools.
I'm not sure how eager Tom and co. would be to put time into better medal hunting support. Most of the basics are in place and mostly functional, and that suffices for most visitors to the site. But it's certainly true that a direct NG solution would be preferable, and we should of course let them know our thoughts.
Though I think even if the site leaderboard were closer to how the tool works, there's still an element of fun and social connection having the posted and tracked weekly updates with pings and discussion.

The NG top medal point list has been so useful over the last thirteen years. Looking forward to being it be corrected soon. let's hope it lasts another 13 more years.

I hope not. I don't know how bad the issue is yet, and I don't plan to let it rest until I at least have that knowledge. With luck, I'll be able to fix it and keep running the thread. I'm hoping to have some time to look into it around the end of the year, if not earlier.

About me, I've been doing much progress since the thread stopped being active, although I have slowed down in the last week or so. I miss the weekly updates and seeing people discuss about their gains, even if I rarely took part in the conversation.

i don't exactly actively put effort into farming medals. i have a whole bunch of games bookmarked that i want to get around to playing eventually, but usually i just check what's new and stick to that.
in that sense, thanks to pixel day, there's been a lot of games to go through;
though i can't exactly say i've been enjoying my time with them much: aside from a few gems, most of the recent games with medals are either way too shitpost-y for my liking, or they're 3d games that require mouse movement (which i'm currently unable to play due to missing one atm).
even though i'm getting quite a few medals from them, i can't say i'm making any "meaningful" progress because i feel like i would have never bothered playing most of these otherwise.
when i make pseudo-guides for some medal games it's usually because i enjoyed them enough to bother putting in extra effort into them, while also helping others who like me enjoy collecting medals for no reason.
because i haven't seen anything in particular lately that quite grabbed my attention, i've been going back to previous games i left unfinished, though i haven't really worked on any of those either because i've been somewhat busy IRL.

Seems currently the bar for entry (as per the last update) is 127,670 points, so you need just a bit more to qualify. ;)
Unfortunately updates have also been on pause here for a while now, issue with the script that fetches these stats, hopefully it's back on track soon. You can also see the top 200 on NG Logs here, though included users aren't exactly the same, maybe this'll be back and running when you're ready to be on it!

I just went through the code to clear up some lines causing the error log to grow, and along the way I fixed the page that lists all the games with medals someone has achieved. It only lists 945 games, so it might be a glimpse into the past rather than something current, but at least it actually loads now rather than just stopping.

Very cool! I wonder if I'd seen this at all before... what happens if you try to jack in on the main page - is this somehow linked to NG? Or NG Logs? Back-end?
