Finally got the gun and used it... interesting.
Got a response from the game's creator over what I thought was a glitch:
That "nasty glitch" where they head straight to the bottom is no glitch at all. Whenever the cop car comes along, it changes the colors of the tombstone (just like in the original arcade game "Centipede", which is of course what we're parodying here). When the centipede touches one of those tainted tombstones, it causes the centipede to head straight towards the bottom of the screen. It's one of the things that made the original game so challenging and I always loved that aspect of it. Everything in the game was made to play exactly like the original Centipede game. Anyway, thanks for playing and giving us your feedback.
Thanks for getting that explanation. I hated Centipede way back when and I still hate it today. It's a great parody, but it's of a game I don't care for. Now Monster Time is where it's at. I used to lose days to Burger Time on the Intellivision.
Yeah, I was kinda surprised by the response.
I remember playing Centipede in the arcades, with it's trackball/roller control. I liked it, but not that much, and it's nice to mockery reviving it in a... weird way.
I like what Mockery does with these classic games, as it a bit nostalgic. However, I don't miss the controls for those old arcade games, and something I wouldn't mind if he improved upon for these contemporary parodies.
On another note, I noticed you got that "Get out more" medal for D-Day defender. I want to get it, but the though of playing for an hour to get it really discourages me from trying.
