Ion cannon isn't made for epic difficulty....
It sure isn't. Now I get to play Act 2 over again. At least I get another go at the minigame.
Hey, before I make another attempt at it, is the Hydra immune to blinding on Epic difficulty? I cast flare twice and used a Blind unleash twice, and nothing good came of it. By which I mean I didn't get a chance to try a third time.
Don't know. Never used flair on it. But it probably wouldn't hurt to use it once in awhile, given how much damage it deals out with it's bite and tail damage. Now, on to bragging... Finally got that medal on Epic hard! YAY!!!!! And the people rejoiced!!!;P
Finally? I just got it, and I only died twice, and once was because I used the Ion Cannon on the sand worm like an asshole. The other time was because Flare kept being broken. Oh, and protip: one of the swords (I forget which) has Seal as its Unleash ability. Use that on both hydra heads and they won't be able to use their instant death spell, nor (I assume) will they be able to revive each other (since that's a magic ability).
I would have finished it off on my first play through if I didn't mess up on the last boss. My next play-through for it didn't go to well when I got hit by two nukes at the same time. On the 3rd play-through both characters were insta-killed, one after the other, by the hydra's insta-kill ability. By that point, I gave up playing it for a month or so. And I don't think the Seal spell seals their insta-death ability...
No, the spell doesn't. But the Unleash on the sword that does it, does. Here's how I take down the Hydra:
On the wave that comes before it I make sure I have the right sword ready, and after I get it down to a single enemy I try to just defend enough to get Natz to her limit break. I also make sure I have the Slime Bunny recently charged, and I cast all the buffs I can, including Revive on both party members... it takes a while. Then when I'm ready I kill the last dude and move on to the boss.
My first turn is always Tactics->Order, Flare, Unleash to Seal. If all goes well, both heads are blinded and one is sealed. My next turn is Tactics->Order, Attack (full heal+buff), Unleash to Seal the other head. Then it's just a matter of patience and of recasting Flare when needed, and resealing. Once sealed with Unleash I've never seen anything other than a standard attack out of them, though I did once have it try to bite me 12 times in a single attack. Glad I had the Evade skill on that one.
I'm just kind of pissed off that finishing in Epic didn't get me the medal for Hard too. Now I have to play it again for less points.
I believe that it's the same for the first Epic game.
Oh, and your gonna love getting those Alkie Kong medals to since the same rules applies to them for obtaining each medal for each difficulty level.
Heh. You assume that at some point I'm going to sink my time into that one. Given how long it will take and how many points I'll get, I'm thinking no.
