Slayer are terrible

I'm amazed at how many people like this band. It cannot be possible. Its like cancer for ears.

I mean what is there too high, horrible guitars that are going too fast - BIG WOW!!! Fast guitars...its a shame no-one cares, I'd rather hear a band play with feeling, rather than just pounding the strings at 200bpm.

But the guitars are not the worst part. The singing is horrible. Possibly the worst singing I've ever heard. And the lyrics are worst:

Seriously, what is it about this band what people like? If you like heavy music listen to Pantera or Metallica who can actually play with feeling....and sing (in Metallica's case....Pantera's vocals aren't great, but the lyrics are good).

Look, I couldnt give a fuck what you think of Slayer, nor could the other 10's of millions of fans, just know one thing - they are a GREAT band. If you actually took the time to listen to the vocals you would realise they are related to political issues, its hard to keep up singing at that pace when the music your playing is faster the speed of light you know.

The drumming is fantastic, the guitar is fantastic - heck a great band. And trust me, I saw them live at Download and was at the very front.

I watched them at Download (well highlights) and the drummer did impress me (thats why I didn't say anything about him). But the guitar was just noise.

Metallica are the only band i used to like who i actually believe sold out, they didnt become popular, they became arseholes, at least slayer stuck to their morals. And hetfield hasnt been able to sing since the black album.

Heh. I know you dont care much for the lyrics but when someone is complaining about slayers lyrics not being good enough for them they need to be told. They still make the band for what it is. without vocals what would War Ensamble be?

To be fair I don't give a shit about how a bands act in public. I care about the music they made, and if its good then I'll listening.

Like Axl Rose. I don't care for how he 'destroyed GN'R'. He made great music while they were together (and still does IMO) and with musicians people should listen to the music. Not how they act behind the scenes.

I've listened to Raining Blood - thats what made me post this thread. he song was horrible. It was a nice riff, and then the galloping just made the song terrible.

80% of Raining Blood may be considered noise, but it does have rythum to it. At Download the crowd went insane at the end part and it was the best thing ive ever experienced. To play like that requires a lot of talent...anyway go and listen to some of slayers other songs - Angel Of Death, War Zone, War Ensamble or Necrophobic.. your opinion may change. Still 80% is a large number. And for a band to be as great as it is, it needs 100% to be perfect...or at least good.

Maybe, But I really do think Slayer's galloping is awful. Its just too fast and sounds murky and horrible. If they slowed it down it'd probs be better. But then they'd lose that 'We play a 200bpm' thing and then they'd be just another metal band.

Yeah the whole 'Seasons In The Abyss' album has some savage rifts.

But I do agree that Slayers rifts do get repetitive, especially Kerry kings solos.. he has been playing the same solo for the past 15 years.

As for Pantera its my opinion that Black Sabbath started heavy Metal but Pantera Perfected it. My God Dimebag was some guitarist. His rifts were so brutal but played with such perfection. Phil Anselmo was an amazing lead singer. Great voice and a great song writer.

I have to disagree. Hetfield's voice rules on most songs. And even on the songs where the lyrics are a bit shit, there is a verse or two that songs good.
