Newgrounds is blessed!
Yet another masterpiece has graced Newgrounds, descended straight from the Pearly Gates of talented minds! This is one of the most stunningly beautiful flash on the site. I have not seen such mastery and visual artistry since the Marcus Peblo series... I am daunted by the sheer abstract beauty. Along with the Princess Mononoke-like soundtrack, this movie will take you to dreams
What does "Qi" mean?
I had mixed feelings about this piece. I think it had a meaning, and I think that meaning was a comment about cities encroaching on nature, and the particular examples of this that can be found in Japan, where massive cities are found within meters of some of the most beautiful scenery in the world.
So tell me, what's the actual meaning?
I REALLY like the music. It's fantastic. I also like the way it interacted with the art.
However, there was something about it which made me feel as if there was something missing. I'm not sure what it was. Maybe more depth. Maybe more complexity. Maybe more sense in the textures on the buildings (i.e. not just random lights everywhere, but maybe that was the point) maybe it was that dove.
Anyway, you get a 9 from me here, and a 4 from me there. I had to think about this one. Only a truly great piece of work can make someone feel something. The music nearly did that for me, but the artwork didn't, except for some of the shots of nature.

Excellent work adapting what seemed to be several different methods of attaining 3d effects with Vector graphics.
I like what you've done here though it may have been to vague for the NG crowd. ;)

imagery was amazing
the imagery you used was perfect....and the choice of sound was like the perfect unity of art and music....amazing piece

that was absoutly wonderfull. im so sorry that i cant review it a 10 though (i rank each category individualy and then average them for the total). i so wish that volence and humor could be taken out of the rating for this. im a very unemotionaly person and watching this movie just stirs something up inside of me. it makes me feel sorrow, joy, regret, hope, and a since of forgetfullness with a longing for the future all at once. very few things (even hollywood movies) can bring out this feeling in a person. i STRONGLY urge you to continue making movies like this. its a freaking masterpeice worthy of the sundance film festival if you ask me.
