i get it!
first let me start by saying "alright i get it, they went in seperate directions! Please can we speed things up a bit here" If this is about 'intelegence' as the last rviewer said then i'm not affraid to stand up and say 'I am DUMB'. i know it is all a matter of expresion but i have to say that just dragged on and on on on. the only good thing about most of the scenes was that the tweens and use of just one sprite gave me a chance to load the next scene while half a minute of tween went by and it seems you got sick of your own motion tweens as it went by as the scenes got shorter and you got the complication out of the way quicker. the main thing this movie offers is that it is not just a stick figure picking his belly button and that you have put a lot of work into it. But take away the impressive graphics and you have just anouther 'run of the mill' animation. but dont give up you do have unlimited talent there and you should show this around it is a nice piece of work just too long and, well, boring for my tastes.
Yeah but...
I should note before I review that I haven't see the full animation. It's taken me three tries to watch it and I think I've gone beyond the call of duty to go that far. The first two crashed IE and the third cut out once the asian was reaching for the Buddah. However, from reading the FAQ, the 'spoiler' and the other reviews I can pretty much envision how the rest of it went.
While I don't want to be like DavrilChorster in my review I must confess that I wasn't too thrilled with this entry. It's great that you're bringing something 'intelligent' to Newgrounds but I fear that part of the reason that it's scored so high is because nobody wants anyone else to think they're stupid. To be honest I wasn't very impressed with the animation. I felt the scenes with the ships dragged on and didn't really do anything other than give a fine example of a tween. I also thought the symbolism was a bit heavy handed (I've just come back from a seminar where one thing we were taught was 'a symbol with the meaning it has in life (American flag=patriotism etc.) is the mark of a student film.'). Another quote that would sum up my feelings on this entry would be "great art silences the mind." It didn't silence my mind... Perhaps it's just me. I certainly can't explain what I think would make this better. Obviously there's going to be a comparison with 2001 and this. I really liked 2001: A Space Odyssey and really can't pinpoint the reason why. I don't sit down and say 'well that was a nice camera move there' or 'well that's a pretty colour.' I just enjoy it. I couldn't do that in this case. It kept reminding me that what I was watching was a flash animation (albeit a cut above the average NG entry). I suppose I could just sum it up as 2001 'has it' and this doesn't.
what.....what can i say
Im so impressed and i love these kinda stuff and movies that is questioning our own existence
