Reviews for "Blockhead: Episode 9"

A Hit, that sometimes misses...

Right now I have that Skinny Puppy song in my head that goes "Progress, progress, we have progressed."

It's no joke that your animation has smoothed out very well, and I can see why ya'd do it. Blockhead's dear ol' mentality (or lack thereof) is just the same as it's always been, so you've kept his character well. Which is more than many animators can say when they've mucked around with a star character as long as you.

The thing that bums me is Blockhead's adaptation to the smoother style. His physical and verbal interactions blend seamlessly with the more elaborate movements, and that just seems a tad awkward. This dude has struck me as a truly stiff and spastic presence, so while you've done well to improve animation, I feel betrayed that BH's actions have developed accordingly.

And the conscience, wow, talk about an awkward remake. But he can take some getting used to. The characters and humor are still there, so I'll keep my complaining to a minimum. I enjoyed this just the same.

Pretty.

Even though this wasn't my favourite your animation has -really- improved. I'm not sure what I think of the new conciense, but he certainly looks more moveable. The only overly critical advice I can think to give is about usage of music, in the previous blockheads you use silence a lot, and...it works. You should avoid any music thats just 'filler', you know? Best example is episode 7, you only play music during blockhead's re-tellings of the day, and the sillyness of it works toghether with the music.

Still awesome, enjoy your trip!

The-Swain responds:

Don't forget about Episode 8. That one, unlike this, almost depends on the music :)

Thanks for the thoughts, though. This is an issue I gave a lot of consideration, and maybe later on I won't have music playing at all moments. For example, there wasn't supposed to be music playing during the Woman/TV part, but because the TV was on it just ended up that way.

As a kid of 14, dreaming of one day having a cartoon about my beloved character Blockhead, I always imagined him tromping around the neighborhood to his very own Blockhead theme...the very same theme that you hear during the intro/ending of the cartoon even today. And quoth Blockhead, "You can't keep me away from my dreams!" :D

great

cant say much, its just a great movie :D, keep up the good work

Um...

If you look in the backgrounds a little after the guy says "We have barred windows, how did you get in?", you see two windows with no bars on them. <_<

Funny

I liked the old fat old man... please consider changing him back! Tanks
