Reviews for "Edward."

It was alright

'You make this look easy'.. because its so simple. I didnt like it to much, was expecting something better from all your hyping.

Pretty good.

I loved it. The sound was very dim (atleast for me) and i couldn't here anything really. =( Good work

TrueDarkness responds:

Turn your volume up? It's actually really loud

An Alright Game

Could use some tweaks, as it was really laggy, but otherwise was a pretty good game. Though am I right when I say the first and 2nd lvl's are nearly teh exact same?

Anyways, after all i'd have to say I LOVED the fact you could fight that demon to come back to life. Mind you it was a pretty slow battle, and the baddie seemed to miss even when the blade "slash" went right through me, which I thought was wierd.

ehh

Allright
Reason being for the score is that, well maybe its just not my type of game. The whole time I was playing I was thinking, "okay...I'm a ball who can move forward, backward, jump, and shout at guys while jumping for coins..." The whole concept kind of struck me as a bore really. If it would have had more action, or if you could be able to do more with Edward than maybe it would be good. For example maybe more attacks, or maybe he can take on different forms. I'm just saying so much more could have been done with this. I know you're probally thinking "wtf does this guy think he is!?" The graphics were great, the storyline was pretty cool, it looked like it was gonna be pretty cool, and then when the gameplay started it was just a bore. All in all, okay, could have been better.

TrueDarkness responds:

Well, I understand your opinion, and would like to give some response.

First, Edward doesn't exactly shout at his enemies, despite what you may have read elsewhere. They are basically wave blasts, generated by Edward. Yes, he is a ball (x_x) and yes, he moves jumps and shoots, it's a platformer...

And infact, Edward does have another form, and a little upgrade attack. I know it's not much, but it does throw off what you say a bit. You can play as Deadward during the battle with death, and the final boss. You can also fly a ufo later on, and get a jetpack and other various things.

I know even MORE could be done with this, but 5 months in the making and all levels complete, I think it was time to submit...

Thanks for the review :)

Original? Maybe not... Fun? I thought so.

I finished the game in roughly 20-25 minutes, a fun little flash game that didn't have me utterly tearing my hair out in frustation (though that worm boss had me coming close).

Yeah, it did seem a little Kirby-esque (except he doesn't suck, he blows... ok bad joke) The jetpack making him fly and the spaceship kinda reminded me of the warp star, but maybe I'm just reaching.

Yeah, the death boss was a nice little touch, but as has been said before, he can take an awful long time sticking his stick in the ground, and he's most vulnerable standing almost directly underneath him... I even found a spot where not even twirling his scythe can touch me... I didn't even have to jump.

The hardest parts by far were the worm and the gauntlet. The gauntlet would actually be fairly easy if it weren't for the little flying machines. The worm was almost guesswork until I realized that he only chased me as fast as I chose to move. Even then, the platforms would fly in different directions and sometimes I suddenly found myself without a foothold that was there just a second ago.

The controls where a little... I donno... blurry is the best way I could use to describe it, and the down-up jump was only useful once in a while... not very controllable at all... but maybe that's me. I like my controls nigh exact (as in, I let go and he stops moving.. no momentum... not everyone feels this way I realize).

The animation was great! Simple... but good, Movement was fluid, and I especially liked the stance of the death-boss. Seriously! Just sit there and watch him move. Nicely done.

The music was fitting... and I thought many tunes quite catchy. Most notable for me was the second level (or is it level 1.2) where you ascend the tower and (my personal favorite) the death-boss song. Still, I'd like a detailed list of the individual songs used (I was waiting for the music section in the credits after I beat the game, but when it just said 'Audio Portal'... well, that doesn't help me much... If I can legally do it without getting someone angry, I'd like to know exactly which songs were used so I can get them).

So yeah... a list of the individual songs would really be nice.

Though it be a simple, entertaining game, there were parts where you can see that a lot of work was put into it. All around, a solid 7, good job!
