Reviews for "Edward."

incredible

despite the fact that it ran a little slow [which might have been partly the fault of my computer] I loved it. The graphics and storyline were great, I love the robot theme. I laughed a little a few times in the game to due some of the things edward said, although they repeated after a while. And it looked like one of those complex games yet the controls were simple and easy to get into. Overall, I think this is up there with a few of the other greatest games I have ever played on newgrounds.
^_^b

TrueDarkness responds:

Try downloading it if you want to run it faster. Im glad you liked the speech bubbles, most people found them immature lol. We had alot more text, but it was all stupid stuff. Im glad to hear you liked it though.

perfect game

that game is right up there with madness interactive. dont listen to them about that one level where the guy is chasing them they just dont have any skill, plus if it wasnt for that level i would beat the thing in 1 try. you made it challanging tho, not impossible. keep making ones like that.

btw is one of those songs on there from the main menu of perfect dark?

TrueDarkness responds:

Ive never even played Madness :O Imma go check that out. The chasing was based alot on luck, though skill does go into it. I don't mind people complaining as long as they give good reasons. Im not sure about the perfect dark song, all the music was from the audio portal.

A few tweaks will make this fantastic!

I absolutely love the style of this game. Its combination of literate dramatic narration and tongue-in-cheek attitude make it great. The fact that you get to fight Death when you die rather than simply coming back is a great touch.

Here are two suggestions.

The perspective shift when turning around is sluggish and not always responsive. I couldn't get the feel of how I went from walking backwards to actually turning around and facing the other way, which sucks when there's an enemy behind you.

The running and jumping level with the red guy behind you seems like it depends on luck a heck of a lot more than skill, and is annoying as all hell. I quit after dying the 3rd time. I don't mind a challenge, but after my performance at the level did not increase at all after 3 deaths, I'd had it, which is a shame because I thoroughly enjoyed the game up until then.

The battle with Death is a fantastic idea, however the fight itself is easy but slow. Perhaps each time you fight death, he could move faster?

TrueDarkness responds:

Ha, thanks, the death idea was kinda just something we put in the backburner until we decided it was a good idea. Glad everyone liked it.
Some people like walking backwards, that way you can go back while shooting an enemy, although I do see when you're getting at with the turning.
The running an jumping is all based on timing. Since you can control the speed with the left and right keys, it does depend on skill, although alot of it is lcuk as well. That's why you get 11 tries.

We could of executed the fight with death better, but as I said, it was just a little something extra.

I liked it

I had to fight death around 3 times before i finally out ran that giant red robot. Not a big deal but I found a typo at the end of the credits. It reads, "this isn't 'out' first game" anyways I enjoyed it alot and it played fine on high quality for me.

a bit irritating

The problem with this game is in its mechanics.

The "health" display is terrible. On most levels it's barely readable.

The dynamic camera wanders around often letting Edward out of viewscope.

It's not clear when exactly the enemies hit Edward.

I liked the concept of cheating death...
