some of the things are hard
cool ;)
This game controls well, but this game has way more issues than previous reviews might suggest.
To start, the tutorial/practice is just a tutorial for the controls. No freeplay/sandbox to practice in (which makes it difficult to learn characters and combos anywhere else. You could argue that the VS could be used in this way, but then why give the illusion that I can practice anywhere else?
Secondly, the Story Mode is GOD AWFUL. Each of the characters seem balanced from their descriptions, but since the only real moves are 'walk' and 'hit' there's no variation or strategy to combat the "I'll mash one button until I win" problem. On top of that, the rewards for completing the missions range from somewhat interesting (character unlocks) to uninteresting (the tutorial stage as a usuable stage).
Finally, some of the Story Mode missions/Challenges either feel WAY too easy (every scrapyard stage in existence) or unreasonably difficult (the easiest example being Convict's final stage, which I will actually go into for my lightning round).
Lightning Round:
*Convict's Story Mode Final is on the absolute tip of being completely impossible, especially considering power-ups
*Enemies go for powerups before you can even see them onscreen, creating very unfair moments
*Some characters (such as Tankman) have weird stats or uniqueness that don't add to thier chaarcter (such as their projectiles/lack thereof)
*The fucking scrapyard
*I will say it again, 'practice' mode
*Actually, Convict in-general. How the fuck is this considered 'balanced'?
*Making projectiles into a power up that takes away heavy attacks limits their usefullness greatly
*Making invincibility/health power ups turns the tables greatly in Story Mode and some Challenges, prolonging the battle or ending it immediately
Now, while there is a lot I can criticize this game, it has an excellent amount of effort put into the artstyle, animation, and music. It delivers on all of these concepts, but falls short of being fun anywhere else except when you're playing it with friends.
For reference, I played everything on Normal Difficulty with Standard mechanics (which is what the game puts you in by default)
I dont understand the game
