Reviews for "Newgrounds Rumble"

jesus

after 30 billion trys i worked up a system to convicts fight...first and foremost play and beat storymode on everyone that way you know their strengths/weaknesses.
1. dont let pico get a gun
2. only jump when you have to
3. when the fight first starts use convicts crouch fierce attack to knock out some samurai hp
4. try to kill off the samurai first then pico
7. after the samurai goes down try to stay on the ground because pico is only really strong in the air
8. after pico goes down sit back and enjoy being a woman beater because nene is almost to easy
9. DONT stay close to a corner, if you have to run left and right across screen try to stop about an inch away from a wall THEN jump over them

now some character tips-
pico-jump and use fierce, it knocks down hp quick
piconjo- worse char to get turned into, he's so slow he's almost useless...best to just stand there and block
s. asshole- juggle people in the air, the computer does it so much it will make you feel good when you do it back
alloy- jump and quick attack
p-bot- if theres less than three stand there and feirce, more than three try to get damage in with jumping quick attacks
nene- useless character....just try not to get hit with her
salad fingers- jump and use long range fierce and quick attacks...you cant go wrong with salad fingers
tankman-keep your distance jump and fierce attack, rocket launcher comes in handy
alien- quick knife attacks on anyone not clumped together following you, requires alot of jumping and dodgeing

hope this helped, i've won more than i've lost using this method...kinda cheap but so is that effin samurai

NegativeONE responds:

Interesting tactic for that last battle. I'd say that being airborne gives you a better chance of survival, but everyone has their own tactic.
I'd disagree that Piconjo is useless. He has excellent guard and high powered attacks, even if he is slow. Nene has a really high stun rate, so opponents will have a really hard time blocking a combo once you start it, especially a fierce one. He aerial kicks are effective too.

pretty great

I agree with most of the things that most people have been saying (great game but uneven, and hitting only 1 at a time is a bummer, etc). I wish Bitey of Brackenwood was a character.

to other reviewers: With all of the negatives about this game, you guys (those of you who offer less constructive criticism and more "this game is so annoying") have to remember...it's free.

The Zelda of SSBM Flash

Here's an explanation of my rating:
Graphics: 8
The graphics are really smooth, and I really like the fact that you could change quality in such a complicated game, because my computer is really slow. It really annoys me when a great game comes out and my computer is playing a frame a minute.
Style: 10
The SSBM idea is very old, but this is the first really great game I've seen (INCLUDING the Lock one, that one was great but it had no story mode, items, or deposit), and the story mode is beautiful. I really like campaign/story modes.
Sound: 7
I didn't use the sound, but I'm giving a 7 solely because you could turn it on and off and like everything else about this game, I'm guessing that it's really good.
Violence: 10
It's not too violent, nor too nonviolent.
Interactivity: 10
This is amazing. The Options menu is one thing about this that makes it great; It has so many options, from the Action Cam to the Configuration. I find the direction arrows very uncomfortable, so it's a real relief to find this one of the few games that let you configure your keys. Another great thing is the deposit. It has a very reasonable amount of items to sell, and the fact that you even have one is very rare and in my opinion, very valuable. It spurs gamers on to play the same game again and again for the Grounds Gold. The huge story mode is great too, and the tutorial is invaluable.
Humor: 8
This isn't supposed to be funny, but I found it funny nonetheless. The Story Mode endings are thorough and provide mild amusement after a long period of difficult fighting. (Especially Alloy; it's a rare brand of sadistic humor XD)
Overall: 10
It's truly amazing.

awesome

the last poster doesn't understand that games work differently.. he's right about hitting 1 at a time when enemies are stacked though. the game would only need some minor tweaking to be perfect. but overall, its the best game i've played on newgrounds thus far.

Good game, terrible 3v1

What the hell is with the 3v1 battles? I have played for half an hour and I am yet to beat a single 3v1. There is absolutely no way to win, and if you do it is by sheer luck.

-All 3 enemies come after you like heat seeking missiles so there is no way no not be flanked or combed by 2 or more enemies.
-If you attempt to attack, you get reamed by two or more enemies combos.
-If you attempt to jump you get juggled by all three enemies for 1/4 your hp.
-You can only hit one enemy at a time even if they are stacked on top of each other (Great idea! *rolls eyes*)
-There is no way to find out what the special moves are for each character unless you button mash like crazy and then attempt to decipher how the hell you did it, if at all.
-A few of the character just plain suck compared to the faster ones. Range doesn't really count for crap when most combo battles end up being point blank face to face.

A great attempt, but in the end is completely frustrating due to a lack of balance.

NegativeONE responds:

Haha, don't vote out of frustration due. If everyone reviewed games based on the most frustrating moment they had with them, reviews would be worth beans. Most of the combos are just S,S,S.. and D,D,D so I don't know what you're on about. Just relax and expand your skills.
