Let's Touch Base
First off, let me start by saying that you continue to outdo yourself with each episode! It makes me think that at some point, you may have to slow things down for an episode to get some exposition out which will probably feel disappointing after so much intensity has occured. But to pull off a successful series like this one, exposition is necessary to drive the story.
Now I found the disgraceful submission that Shrums made. And you know what, don't even pay it any mind. You got a legion of fans who will send that joke to flash hell. Don't let him or anyone else tell you to change anything about your style. I for one really like the style you use now. Those flashes before power moves, keep using them. They emphasize the intensity of the attack being used. And as far as anyone negatively criticising you for being so successful from using Nintendo and Sega sprites, pay them no mind. They fail to read the writing that's on the wall: Sprite movies appeal to the younger audiences. People who try to say it's only made/done by young teens are just blowing smoke. I myself am 28! So don't change a thing about your style when making the series. Look at it this way, when something, ANYTHING, in the world of entertainment both actual and parody is highly successful. Whether it's at the box office or on Newgrounds, there are always going to be haters; people who seek to discourage. It's not even proper crticism. If you're making money from this, than more power to you! I'm sure you deserve it. Haters fail to understand that a sprite flash movie is still a movie and it takes a lot of planning and hard work to pull it off. I'm no flash expert to the point of having never successfully created anything. But I have tried and let me tell you, it's hard. So never change your style for anyone. You do the series the way YOU want to do it. And those who enjoy it have the same tastes as you. You'll never be able to please everybody.
Now that all that has been said, let me actually review the episode itself:
Story: Much of the story for this episode has been set up in the previous one so it was mostly action here.
Action: What can I say? You blew this one out of the water! That and the island! Though I must say that if this were pure DBZ, that type of deathball would have destroyed the planet. So I'm assuming you tuned down the destructive forces of the attacks the characters use to keep the planet intact. So things like Mecha Sonic's deathball would destroy the island rather than the planet.
Seeing Sonic and Shadow fighting as a team was pulled off well. Shadow, already established in official canon as the antihero of the Sonic series, fit the (Vegeta) bill perfectly as the "Shoot first, ask question later" character. And to see Chaos Control used in more detail really seemed nice. Sonic really pulled out all the stops from snowboarding to becoming Super Sonic from a star rather than the emeralds.
Mario and Luigi both rocked in their own ways. Luigi in a blue shell seemed odd to me at first, but I got over it fast. It was nice to see Mario once again power up to his Fire Mario state. It became clear that Mario was the Goku of this series. I wonder if it's possible for him to shoot a full force blast of fire much like the Kamehameha itself?
I noticed how you changed Yoshi's sprite to the DS version. I felt it was befitting and helped distinguish him from the rest of the Yoshi tribe. It really was a bummer to see Yoshi's Island blown up like that. But since it's established that Mecha Sonic is uber powerful, that's to be expected. Though I thought that you had to have all the emeralds to actually use them. At least it has always been that way in the Sonic universe when he collected them. But that's alright. It puts a nice spin on things.
Anyway, I'm running out of room so I'll wrap this up. You've done remarkable and I can only wait in anticipation for the next episode! Don't let anyone try to deter you from doing what you have done so well and let your awards and achievements speak for themselves! See you next time!!!!!
