Reviews for "Super Mario bros Z ep 6 (old series)"

^_^

It's been a while since I gave someone a perfect 10 in everything

Even you're fight scenes are great! Better than Madness

Keep doing what you're doing & i'll keep clicking 5

If only there was a 99999999999999999999(etc) button =/

amazing

people who complained about the fifth having too much text and not enough action should be very pleased with this one. the effects, camera angles, and choreography were extremely well done. i can't imagine how you can top this! another weekly user's choice and review crew pick coming up, and a best of may award i'm sure.

What you want and need and more.

Now I don't do reviews here...Ever. I just lurk around and view stuff, but I felt compelled to type this up due to how much this animation impressed me. The series itself I have been following closely and have yet to be disappointed, only more impressed with every new episode. However this one takes the cake. It does so many things right. Where should I begin...Consider this review to be one of the entire series rather than just one episode.

Well for starters, graphically the animation looks and flows very well, despite it being a "dreaded sprite movie". To be honest, I was so involved I never even stopped to notice they were sprites at some points. Everything goes together excellently. Never have I seen the usage of sprites executed better on this site. Aside from the sprites, the effects fit in very well with the theme. The giant bursts of fire, the quick character movement. It was fast-paced and only slowed down for the occasional dialogue. It kept up with the feel of Dragon Ball Z without the dramatic slow-downs and waiting a week to see the next episode. Which brings me to my next point.

I loved DBZ. I watched it every day after school and was my favorite cartoon. It's nice to have an animation like this bring back all the good things about it in such an impressive way, and combining it with my favorite video game characters. Sure, there are the many vomit inducing flashes that pits Mario against some arbitrary character from Dragon Ball, but never were really that good. This animation series seemed to change that. Bringing in action (and lots of delicious action) with interesting story elements and our favorite characters.
The thing about DBZ was that it was over too fast, and just seemed to drag on with the characters failing to find the ex-lax. Super Mario Brothers Z has extracted all of the action and removed all of that unnecessary crap. It never ended too soon, keeping you hanging just waiting for the next episode so you can see a punch thrown. This particular episode was very long, which I'm sure nobody has any complaints about. Many times during the movie I thought it would end right before something happened, but it went through with all of the action scenes in tact, leaving on a note that you know you can wait out the next three months without dying. Very impressive how you got so much content in just slightly over nine-thousand KBs.

Speaking of which, the meme was old and beaten to death, but you executed the whole "it's over nine-thousand" thing with perfection. It fit very well and didn't go too over the top. It certainly put a smile on my face. The movies seem to have a nice dose of humor to keep you chuckling. Good stuff.
The story itself is very interesting. Perhaps a little cliche', but that never hurt no one. The characters portrayal in the animation really fit quite well with the actual characters from their respective franchises. I can appreciate that. No talking Mario, no daredevil hero Luigi, no Sonic that doesn't spew corny lines, and no Shadow that isn't a misanthropist. Everything in the movie just seems to fit.

The sound and music go great. The sound effects are pure Dragon Ball (literally) or Mario/Sonic. They are all at the appropriate times and nothing is really in your face about the sound. It flows very nicely. The music helps move everything along and gets you pumped up for the next fight scene. Sometimes I'll sit there just listening to it. Very impressive synchronization with the theme.

Interactivity, I press the space bar. ARGH. MY FINGER.

The movie is just great. I can't really find anything wrong with it. If anything, it's just minor, although I haven't noticed anything. It takes an old idea, and makes it awesome. I could watch the fight scenes over and over again and the humor just makes it all better. I was going to rate the movie a nine just to be different from all of the NewGrounds goons who give every submission an arbitrary score of ten, but this animation (and the series) just deserves the highest praise I can give.

Excellent job, Alvin. Keep up the good work.
