It;s not exactly because hank started killing, but because he was trying to kill the Sheriff. The Sheriff got scared and activated the improbability drive, which made the clown stronger and made random things fallfrom the sky. It also made the sun become a random guy(who was then killed by hank),and following his death the sky went pitch black for a episode or two. Then, in MC5, we can see a new sun rising, and the sun keeps getting higher, which explains the redsky in here~MC10.
The lightning is a result of the normalization process that Jesus(the guy at the end)starts, which cancels the effects of the improbability drives and restores Nevada back to normal.Its safe to say that the lightning is part of the process.
As for ressurection, It was the clown or S&D that brought hank back to life, but Krinkels said somethin about the "higher powers' bringing him back to life in Mc 2,3,4 , and alot of people suspect that that's actually the Auditor, though its hard to say for sure. The clown coming back to life is because of the improbability drive in his head, and Jesus, because....well... im not sure but he IS the savior, right...?

I have a question. You never point out who keeps bringing Hank back to life? If its the auditor, does he do it to see Hank, the Clown and Jebus constantly fight each other?
