Reviews for "The Last Stand."

Best Defense Game Ever

I’ve played a lot of defense games, but this one ROCKED. Graphics were amazing, concept was great, gameplay was well done, and no glitches or errors in programming at all. Also, the nice thing was the massive variety of enemies. Too many times, I’ve seen defense games where the enemies ALL look the same. Here, they all had their differences (save for the SWAT and military officers in uniform, but whatever). Plus, it wasn’t too hard, more on the easier side but hey, I’m okay with that. Once you know what to do (Maximize survivors at all times, repair accordingly, spend the rest of your hours weapon searching), it’s pretty easy from there on in, but it was excellent nonetheless.

The ending was pretty short-lived, I might have liked to see a little more to that but I know that already many games don’t come with a decent ending, or were even meant to be finished either. Weapon selection was great, the Barret at the end was a nice surprise, but it pretty much makes the game a complete cakewalk. The real struggle seems to come right around the time you get the M4A1.

My only complaint was the bit of lag caused by piles and piles of dead zombies gathering up. Yeah, I could have set the quality to low to compensate for that, but the graphics were too good to do that. Animation was smooth, hit direction was generally okay (I guess recoil was the reason for not getting headshots even when I had the crosshairs perfectly aligned), and the length was good. I’m not too crazy about games that don’t save and take hours to complete, but this was the perfect length to be completed nicely without getting too repetitive.

Major thumbs up for this game though, I really enjoyed this one.

It's ranked #1 in score for a reason.

It's so basic...so simple...so straight-forward. One might say that it's been done before--and it has; but NEVER has it been done so well as this. It's safe to say that this game has re-invited the zombie shooter. Other than making suggestions on what to put in for a second installment, there's not enough things this game does wrong to make a decent argument for. Well, no, there are a few things to gripe about. :P For instance, headshots mean nothing in this game, which is unrealistic and a downer for headshot addicts. Also, with the exception of the dog and soldier, there is no variety in the zombies. Every zombie behaves just like the other and it only takes a few simple shots to nail it to the floor.

What I'd like to see, if we're graced with a sequel, is an expanded storyline. What if the army chopper DIDN'T come at the 20th day and they had to move? It would've been neat to see them go into the city, maybe hold up in a mall somewhere, acquire some more help, and take down different types of zombies. Also, a bit of personalization with your fellow zombie slayers wouldn't hurt either.

There's nothing more that can be said about this game that hasn't already said by the 1,200+ reviews before this one. This game has made the defensive shooter fun again and it is really a gem of Newgrounds games. This will earn itself a VERY VERY VERY RARE spot in my favorites folder. Congratulations.

Pretty amazing for your first game...

This is one of the best games I've played on NG. The graphics and sound were good, the gameplay got repetitive, but the weapon diversity and different zombie types overcame that. I thought the running fat zombies were pretty funny :P. I hope you make more!

Very Good

This is a real shooter and the Barret just owned as a finishing weapon and those dammed military guys just would not die!
