Reviews for "The Last Stand."

If you think it's bad, you're playing it badly...

Note: The 'violence' and 'humor' scores have little (if anything) to do with how good a game is... They are only there because they used to be in the sub-scores (the sub-score 'interactivity' has been replaced with 'gameplay')...

This... is a fantastic game, no ifs or buts about it. It is simply one of the best flash games there is...

Graphics: 10/10 (Superb): The 'gritty' graphics convey the atmosphere of the game masterfully, but at the same time, they are also slightly cartoony, which is great at stopping the game from completely sliding into 'darkville'. Also, for a flash game, they're of a tremendous quality. Everything looks great, from the character models and blood overlays, right down to the muzzle flashes and accompanying smoke... It's great... Last Stand really does have superb graphics...

Style: 10/10 (Superb): Coherent package, great layout, wonderfully dark atmosphere and a decided lack of serious bugs (which is quite remarkable for flash game this complex)...

Sound: 10/10 (Superb): Music would probably have only detracted from the game's atmosphere. The sound effects, though, are great. They are in good quality and are a pleasure to listen to, particularly the wide range of zombie gurgles and grunts... My only complaint would be that some of the guns can sound a little lifeless at times, but this is migitated by the fact that the better weapons tend to sound really good... On the whole, though, the sound effects are fantastic...

Violence: 7/10 (Very Violent): There's a lot of blood and gore flying around, particularly when you make head shots, but it's as violent as it could be because of the slight cartoonyness of it and the fact that you aren't really 'up and close and personal' with it. For those gore lovers out there though, there's certainly enough to make shooting zombies a satisfying experience...

Gameplay: 10/10 (Superb): The game is a joy to play. The controls are excellent, the balance is good, it's fun shooting the zombies and the system of choosing how best to spend the daylight hours serves as a nice little extra and helps break up the pace of the game. I also like how you can only choose two weapons to take into combat with each night, as this forces you to think somewhat strategically, particularly earlier on. Above all though, it's great fun, and not too long either. The gameplay is practically perfect, except that zombies with bulletproof vests are inexplicably immune to your Chainsaw.

Humor: 4/10 (A Tad of Humor): The often amusing little notes and journal entries of your character provide a nice little bit of humor on the side, which again serves to help break up the pace of the game and prevents things from monotonous. There's even occasionally something to smile at in-game (smile at for a reason other than the fact that the zombie just fell over and died that is), like when you shoot the zombie reporter and he falls in such a way that he is holding his mic to his mouth as if delivering a report. It's nice little things like this that make a game really great... The devil is in the details as they say...

Overall: 10/10 (Superb): The Last Stand is one of a select few truly awesome flash games, and a testament to the skill of its creator. It's more than just a great shooting game, it's an experience and, like how the Happy Video Game Nerd describes Wild Guns, just the sort of game you'll play though, love and then forget about, only to rediscover it later and find that's still as awesome as ever... I'd recommend this game to pretty much anyone who likes flash games, it's appeal doesn't only extend to zombie lovers...

To those who think this game sucks, I can tell you people aren't playing it very well. I won the game the first time I played it, it's really not that hard (though it's still fun). Three things...

1: DON'T repair unnecessarily.

2: For the first 2 days at least, only spend 4 hours looking for guns (this way you'll still get the revolver by the start of day 3).

3: Remember that you can move your character using WASD...

A overall, awesome game.

Great game- a few glitches and problems with the angle (can't see some attackers), but a brutal premise and fun weapons.

Laaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmmmmeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!

Worst game ever....weak wall....needs more hours....all zombies should be equal....dont make the sequel this bad please...and make it so u can set up turrets...and if u put 5 points to survivors on first day make it find 5 of them...

Awesome!

Great game! However, the crosshair could have been a bit more visible. Also, I'd have to say that the Hunting Rifle and the Chainsaw were the best weapons. I used the Hunting Rifle to pick off most enemies, and when a bunch of army soldiers, or just tons and tons of people reached my base at once, I whipped out the Chainsaw. Overall, great game! (Although I don't know why it's in the top 20. It's good, but not that good.)

Sucked!!!!

I always have a lot of bad luck with this game. And at a certain point you can't shoot the zombies anymore because the gun won't go down to that angle.
